We are seeking a meticulous and knowledgeable Copy Editor to shape and refine scholarly and mainstream content in the field of social sciences. The ideal candidate will have a strong expertise in social science terminology, excellent editing skills, and a keen eye for detail to ensure our publications are accurate, clear, and adhere to academic and publishing standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review, edit, and proofread manuscripts, articles, reports, and other content related to social sciences.
- Ensure all content complies with established style guides (e.g., Chicago Manual of Style, APA).
- Verify the accuracy of data, citations, references, and terminology specific to social sciences.
- Enhance readability, coherence, and flow while maintaining the authors voice and intent.
- Collaborate with authors, researchers, and academic editors to implement revisions and provide constructive feedback.
- Maintain consistency in tone, style, and formatting across all publications.
- Meet publishing deadlines and handle multiple projects concurrently.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Journalism, Social Sciences, Humanities, or a related discipline.
- Proven experience editing academic or scholarly social science content.
- Exceptional knowledge of social science terminology and concepts.
- Excellent command of English grammar, style, and syntax.
- Familiarity with style and citation guidelines (e.g., APA, Chicago).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with authors and colleagues.
- At least 3 years experience in related field.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with academic publishing.
- Knowledge of digital publishing tools and platforms.
- Familiarity with open-access publishing models and SEO optimization.
Working Conditions:
- Remote or on-site based on organizational needs.
