We're Hiring: Bookkeeper – Construction Sub-Contractor (Part-Time)
Join a growing construction sub-contractor and support the company's financial operations. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented, organized, and proactive Bookkeeper who thrives in a project-based environment and understands the unique financial workflows of the construction industry. The position begins on a part-time basis and is expected to grow to approximately 30 hours per week within the next few months.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain accurate accounts payable and accounts receivable records
- Process vendor invoices, subcontractor bills, purchase orders, and job-related expenses
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and vendor statements
- Track job costs, including labor, materials, and subcontractor payments
- Prepare weekly and monthly financial reports for management
- Assist with payroll preparation, including timesheet collection and verification
- Maintain general ledger entries and ensure proper coding by job/project
- Support tax preparation and provide organized documentation to the accountant
- Monitor cash flow, outstanding invoices, and payment schedules
- Maintain organized digital and physical filing systems for all financial documents
- Communicate with suppliers, subcontractors, and internal staff regarding billing and payments
Requirements:
- Previous experience as a Bookkeeper, Accounting Clerk, or in a similar role
- Familiarity with construction accounting, job costing, or project-based bookkeeping
- Proficiency with QuickBooks accounting software
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills and comfort with digital record-keeping
- Excellent attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality
- Ability to work independently and manage a part-time schedule that will expand over time
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to coordinate effectively with field and office teams
- Preferred Qualifications (Not Required):
- Experience working with construction sub-contractors or trades such as HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or similar industries
- Knowledge of progress billing, retainage, and lien releases
- Bookkeeping or accounting certification
Work Setup:
- 100% Work From Home
- Initial schedule: 5 hours per day, 3 days per week (Monday, Wednesday, and Friday)
- Working hours: 8:00 AM – 1:00 PM PST
- Expected to grow to approximately 30 hours per week within the next few months
- Company is based in Los Angeles, California (Pacific Time Zone)

Salary:
- USD 6–7 per hour
