About the job Quality Inspector
We are seeking a high-level Quality & Layout Inspector to join our fast-paced machine shop environment. This is a dynamic role designed for a technical expert who isn't afraid to wear multiple hats. You will be the backbone of our quality department, ensuring every part meets rigorous standards while stepping in to support office operations, purchasing, and quoting.

Responsibilities Include
- In-Depth Inspection: Perform complex layout inspections on first-run and finished machined parts to ensure 100% compliance with customer specifications.
- Heavy Programming: Take the lead on programming (CMM/VMM) to support our high-volume, 50-60 hour weekly programming schedule.
- Blueprint Mastery: Interpret complex technical prints, GD&T symbols, and material specifications with total accuracy.
- Office & Admin Support: Assist the office team with administrative tasks, data entry, and filing during transitional periods.
- Purchasing & Quoting: Fill in and assist with purchasing raw materials/tooling and providing data for job quotes—a critical area for the shop's growth.
- ERP Management: Utilize JobBOSS (or similar ERP systems) to track jobs, log quality data, and manage inventory.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance to shop floor operators and office staff to maintain a culture of quality.
Skills & Qualifications
- Layout Expertise: Proven experience as a Layout Inspector in a machine shop setting, capable of using manual tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges) and automated equipment.
- Programming Prowess: Significant experience in CMM or CNC programming is very important. You must be comfortable with high-volume programming demands.
- Print Reading: Expert-level ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and blueprints.
- Software Knowledge: * Experience with JobBOSS ERP is a major plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel/Word) for reporting and office support.
- Business Acumen: Quoting experience is a huge advantage; understanding how to estimate time and material costs will set you apart.
- Versatility: A "can-do" attitude—willingness to help girls in the office, assist with purchasing, and fill in wherever needed while learning the companys unique processes.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written skills to bridge the gap between the shop floor and the front office.
Compensation
Pay will be offered based on several factors including the candidate's education, work experience, work location, specific job duties, and certifications, with an expected hourly wage of $30-$35/hr.
