What's the role?

As an Environment Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the entire lifecycle of development and production environments within the organization. Reporting to the DevOps Manager, your role will involve coordinating with various teams to implement changes, proactively identifying and resolving issues, provisioning and decommissioning environments, enforcing access control, and facilitating booking processes to support the software development lifecycle.

  • Collaborate with development, testing, and operations teams to plan and set up suitable environments for software development activities.
  • Ensure that environments mirror production as closely as possible to identify potential issues early in the development process.
  • Manage and configure environment parameters, ensuring consistency across different stages of the development lifecycle.
  • Implement and maintain version control for environment configurations.
  • Oversee the provisioning of new environments based on project requirements.
  • Ensure the proper decommissioning of environments that are no longer needed.
  • Work closely with development and release management teams to coordinate the implementation of changes to environments.
  • Conduct impact assessments for proposed changes and ensure proper communication and documentation.
  • Implement monitoring tools to proactively identify and address issues in development environments.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve environmental issues promptly to minimize impact on project timelines.
  • Enforce access controls for different environments, ensuring that only authorized personnel have the necessary permissions.
  • Collaborate with security teams to implement and enhance access control measures.
  • Facilitate the booking process for various teams to schedule the use of shared environments.
  • Coordinate with project managers and team leads to optimize the allocation of resources based on project timelines.
  • Provide regular status reports on environment management activities to the DevOps Manager.
  • Collaborate with the DevOps team to align strategies and ensure seamless integration with continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of environment configurations, changes, access controls, and booking processes.
  • Provide training to team members on environment-related practices

Preferred education/ qualifications:

  • Graduate level (bachelors or higher) degree in Information Technology or related field. Significant technical centric job experience (3+ years) can count in place of technical degree.
  • Agile qualifications preferred, PMI-ACP or SCRUM.
  • Relevant cloud certifications are desirable (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Microsoft Certified: Azure DevOps Engineer Expert, Google Cloud Professional DevOps Engineer)

Knowledge & Experience:

  • Proven experience in environment management or a similar role.
  • Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle, deployment processes, and environment management best practices.
  • Deep knowledge and experience and belief in Agile methodology.
  • Experience in working with DevOps. Knowledge of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CD/CI), Infrastructure as a code,
  • Familiarity with configuration management tools and version control systems.
  • Experience of working with modern DevOps tools as Jenkins, Atlassian, Github, and other automation frameworks for testing, build and deployment.
  • Demonstrable experience of working in complex operational environment managing cross-functional teams.
  • Experience in telco industry, preferably in an international multi-market environment.
  • Proven experience engaging effectively with and senior level management.
  • Experience and appreciation of working in a customer focused environment essential.
  • Experience working in cross-functional, international teams.
  • Track record of concurrently handling a variety of projects while coordinating and supporting the efforts of cross-functional team members
  • Preferably bi-lingual English Spanish or optionally, excellent skills in one of the languages and fluency on the other
