Description
We are looking for a doer who is detail-oriented and passionate about making a difference in Puerto Rico. ConPRmetidos is partnering with Fordham University as their statutory partner in Puerto Rico for the Flourishing in Community grant program and needs a Regional Associate that will serve as a programming point of contact between the Regional Hub (ConPRmetidos) and the Flourishing in Community Program Officer (Fordham University).
The Flourishing in Community (FIC) Grantmaker Initiative, serving as the EPA Region 2 Environmental Justice Thriving Communities Grantmaker program (New York, New Jersey, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands), proposes an intersectional approach to place frontline communities in positions of power to advance environmental justice and climate justice.
The Regional Associate is essential in offering outreach, support, and project management to CBOs, nonprofits, local municipalities, and other eligible subgrant recipients leading community environmental justice initiatives in Puerto Rico. Qualifications
- 1-3 years of experience
- At least one (1) year of experience in environmental justice and climate justice topics
- Bachelors degree
- Working knowledge of the government and/or nonprofit sectors in at least one of the following areas: administration, grants management, legal, financial, program
- management, and/or compliance
- Understanding of community-based work and public speaking
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both Spanish and English
- Availability to work full-time
- Sufficient flexibility and ability to travel throughout communities across Puerto Rico
- Proven capacity to solve complex challenges with a positive attitude
- Good research skills
Essential Responsibilities
A. General
- Support the Program Manager in the execution of objectives and projects.
- Coordinate and execute programmatic events.

- Develop procedures to meet organizational needs and objectives in the programmatic area.
- Collaborate in drafting detailed project plans to schedule key project milestones, workstreams, timelines, and activities, paying close attention to deadlines to ensure ConPRmetidos meets internal goals.
- Coordinate relationships and communications with all stakeholders, ensuring service is delivered to their satisfaction.
- Guide participants through processes, address communication issues, and review expectations.
- Assist with any other programmatic tasks required by the team.
- Collaborate in creating internal controls and procedures to supervise and guarantee the organization always complies with local, state, and federal requirements.
- Collaborate in creating internal controls and procedures to meet all the compliance criteria required by foundations, corporations, and other private donors.
- Recommend actions necessary to resolve issues/concerns.
- Assist in preparation for external monitoring visits, reviews, audits, and cross-site evaluations, and participate as appropriate.
- Track progress, analyze data, and provide regular reports.
- Compile and analyze quantitative and qualitative data to prepare external and internal reports.
- Draft reports for ConPRmetidos Board, including essential documentation for Committee meetings.
- Establish and maintain electronic and hard copy files for tracking and reporting purposes.
- Review related correspondence and ensure proper records are retained.
- Work closely with the organizations accounting and legal resources to prepare and/or review information and reports for stakeholders.
- Collaborate closely with the Communications Lead and the Executive Director to regularly provide the information necessary to communicate ConPRmetidos work, progress, and ongoing impact.
B. Flourishing in Community (FIC)
- Coordinate and conduct outreach activities, including info sessions, town hall meetings, focus groups, tabling, and presentations throughout the designated region to raise awareness of the Flourishing in Community grants.
- Together with the Grantmaker (Fordham) team, create and disseminate program information in accessible formats and multiple languages.
- Lead organizational and institutional relationships with partner organizations in the region, including leveraging collaborative in-kind partners for project deliverables.
- Coordinate application information sessions, Q&A sessions, trainings, and one-on-one coaching for successful applications.
- Collect regional applications from online and in-person locations. Review for completeness and submit to FICs Program Officer (Fordham); offer feedback sessions for incomplete applications.
- Support a portfolio of regional subgrant recipients (approximately 50 over 3 years) with hands-on organization-specific project management, including but not limited to regularly scheduled check-ins and site visits, fielding questions and problems as they arise, supporting compliance and program evaluation needs, directing essential resources, and coordinating Communities of Practice support structures.
- Participate in regularly scheduled Grantmaker (Fordham) coordination calls, retreats, and meetings.
- Contribute to Grantmaker (Fordham) regional expos and events.
- Supports Grantmaker (Fordham) compliance, evaluation, and improvement of the Grantmaker project.
- Collaborate in submitting all the information requested from Grantmaker (Fordham) in a responsible and timely manner.
- Salary range: $40,000 $45,000
