What's the role?

As a Credit Analyst you will be responsible for handling a portfolio of clients for both B2B and B2C channels for all operating entities in Puerto Rico. The responsibilities include evaluating the financial status of potential customers, monitoring existing clients, performing risk assessments, writing detailed reports, and making informed decisions concerning credit.

In this role you will support the Liberty Latin America (LLA) accounts receivables and notes receivables working capital performance by ensuring that credit granted matches the risk appetite of Liberty and to minimize bad debt expenses. As a Credit Analyst you will work in conjunction with the Collections team to understand customer payment performance, identify credit risks and recommend and implement tools & measures to mitigate credit risks.

Responsibilities: 

  • Analyze and assess the financial documents and credit history of existing and potential clients.
  • Review credit applications and perform credit checks.
  • Review exception customer cases that require enhanced credit assessment decisions.
  • Recommend and advise the business on structuring deals to mitigate credit risks.
  • Ability to make informed decisions backed by sound assessment.
  • Consult and negotiate with clients regarding financial transactions, payment terms, and credit limits.
  • Adhere and promote the companys credit policy and SOX control requirements.
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and submit credit applications on time.
  • Understand and track business, economic and industry risk as it relates to their impact on customer credit and the business environment & industry our customers operate in.
  • Analyze financial statements and understand liquidity ratios from customer statements.
  • Understand, support receivables factoring when appropriate.
  • Prepare periodic reports to show the status of credit by channels of business and understand and highlight trends.
  • Communicate clearly to the CFO, Controller, and other management regarding credit performance matters.
  • Prepare ad-hoc financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing financial information and trends.
  • Maintain customer confidence and protect company operations by keeping financial information confidential.
  • Other functions may be assigned.
  • Demonstrate and ensure compliance with the Customer First Philosophy, all Liberty PR and LLA policies and procedures including the Code of Conduct and Liberty safety standards and procedures.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree in finance or accounting.
  • 2-5 years of experience in credit or finance.

Other Qualifications:

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer-literate, knowledge in Microsoft Office.
  • Knowledge of arithmetic, algebra, geometry, calculus, statistics, and their applications.
  • Bilingual (Spanish and English).
  • Proven knowledge of economic and accounting principles and practices, credit analysis, and reporting.
