Responsibilities

  • Ensure continuous operation of all utility systems and equipment to support facility and production needs.
  • Supervise utility systems operatormechanics, ensuring proper licensing and proficiency.
  • Manage and schedule all utilities maintenance, including contractor work and shutdowns.
  • Implement and oversee the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Serve as Facility Environmental Manager, maintaining compliance with local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, hazardous materials).
  • Maintain records and training for Process Safety Management (PSM), Risk Management Plans (RMP), and NJDEP programs.
  • Lead or participate in the Hazmat team as needed.
  • Coordinate technical analysis services (e.g., infrared scanning, vibration analysis, energy metering) to monitor equipment health.
  • Manage utilities reliability program, balancing proactive and reactive maintenance to ensure system uptime.
  • Support major equipment bids and represent the facility with vendors, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
  • Monitor and manage utilities and energy budgets, reporting variances and improvement opportunities.
  • Assist in developing policies, procedures, and annual budgets related to utilities and environmental compliance.
  • Support quality, safety, and cleanliness standards across all assigned areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelors degree in Engineering or related field preferred; equivalent experience and certifications accepted.
  • 57 years operations and maintenance management experience in a manufacturing environment requiring knowledge of refrigeration, steam, compressed air, industrial electrical systems, and automated manufacturing process controls.
  • Must possess, at minimum, a Blue Seal for Boilers and a Gold Seal for Refrigeration (required by New Jersey for operation of hazardous refrigeration and highpressure steam systems).
  • Working knowledge of FDA regulations, GMP practices, sanitation procedures, and HACCP.
  • Understanding of 480VAC (3phase) electrical systems and 277VAC lighting circuits.
  • Ability to troubleshoot electrical circuits (lowvoltage AC/DC, 220/230/240VAC).
  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, including disassembly/reassembly of equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, operating manuals, maintenance instructions, and to complete maintenance documentation.
  • Strong oral communication skills (listening, seeking clarification, participating in meetings).
  • Experience with Windows, Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, CMMS software; SAP experience preferred.
  • Working knowledge of spoken Spanish is a plus.
