Role Objective

The Procurement Executive is responsible for driving the efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and reliability of the procurement function, with a strong emphasis on international sourcing of mechanical engineering components. This role involves supplier management, contract negotiation, compliance, inventory planning, and cost optimization to ensure uninterrupted supply chain operations. The ideal candidate brings a technical background, global procurement expertise, and an analytical mindset to enhance supplier performance and support organizational growth.

Key Responsibilities

1. International Procurement

  • Source, negotiate, and procure mechanical engineering components from international suppliers, ensuring alignment with project requirements, delivery timelines, and budgetary constraints.

  • Build and maintain robust relationships with global suppliers, especially for critical products such as steel wire ropes, synthetic mooring ropes, and lifting accessories.

  • Monitor global market trends, price movements, and shipping logistics to optimize procurement strategies.

2. Supplier Management

  • Identify, evaluate, and onboard new international suppliers to guarantee a reliable and high-quality supply of materials.

  • Manage long-term partnerships with key suppliers, including those in the marine and construction sectors (e.g., Kiswire, Crosby, Dong Yang).

  • Develop and implement supplier performance improvement strategies, with a focus on cost reduction, lead time optimization, and delivery reliability.

3. Contract Negotiation & Compliance

  • Negotiate favorable procurement contracts, securing optimal terms on price, quality, and delivery schedules.

  • Ensure all purchasing activities comply with international trade regulations, import/export laws, and company policies.

4. Inventory Management & Forecasting

  • Collaborate with operations and project management teams to accurately forecast demand and manage inventory levels.

  • Oversee timely and accurate delivery of products, minimizing delays, stock shortages, and excess inventory.

5. Cost Optimization & Analysis

  • Conduct regular market research and competitive analysis to identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvements.

  • Partner with the finance team to monitor budgets and ensure cost-effectiveness in all purchasing activities.

Ideal Candidate Profile

Educational Background:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related technical discipline.

Experience:

  • Minimum 35 years of hands-on experience in international procurement, preferably within mechanical engineering, marine, or construction sectors.

Industry Knowledge:

  • In-depth understanding of mechanical engineering products such as lifting accessories, ropes, chains, and related components.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft AX or similar ERP systems for purchase order management and invoicing.

  • Familiarity with global procurement processes, international trade regulations, and shipping logistics.

  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and supplier relationship management skills.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to conduct market research and leverage data for demand forecasting and inventory planning.
