TYPICAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
A Technical Sales Engineer reporting to the Regional Sales manager acts as a key bridge between technical expertise and customer-facing sales activities. This role is responsible for providing technical assistance to sales teams and clients, ensuring that customer requirements are met with appropriate product solutions, and supporting the overall sales process with expert technical knowledge.
PRIMARY POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Collaborate with sales teams to understand customer challenges and deliver technical solutions that align with client needs.
- Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support, including troubleshooting, technical product demonstrations, and resolving technical inquiries from clients.
- Assist in the preparation of technical proposals, provide input to Product Management for customized features or solutions.
- Present and demonstrate technical product features and functionalities to clients, acting as a subject matter expert for specific technologies or product lines.
- Coordinate with quality, product management, regulatory, engineering, production, innovation and supply chain teams to ensure successful product support and fulfillment of customer requests.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of company products and technological developments to support customer projects and challenges.
- Provide feedback to product management and product development teams regarding recurring customer issues or potential improvements.
- Prepare and deliver technical documentation, and feasibility studies as required for sales opportunities.
- Manage projects involving technical customer issues and ensure timely and accurate communication of solutions to both customers and internal stakeholders.
Comprehension of all relevant quality management system factors and documents that refer to the job category and the awareness by the individual of their relevance and importance. That includes but is not limited to, understanding of the Quality Policy, how the individuals performance contributes to meeting of the Critical Success Factors and specific job category or position related procedures.
COMPANY REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
- Position holder will have a high school diploma or equivalency.
- Ability to speak and comprehend the English language as determined through appropriate testing and/or the interview process.
- Able to read and comprehend and to legibly write the English language as determined through appropriate testing and/or the interview process.
- Mathematics and reasoning skills as determined through applicable aptitude and achievement tests.
- A position in areas, such as the maintenance department where specific skills such as electrical knowledge are required, will require documented evidence of competency in those skills.
POSITION REQUIRED COMPETENCIES:
- Bachelors degree in engineering, Polymer Science, or a related technical field.
- 03+ years of experience in technical support, technical sales support, or a related role.
- Strong technical background and understanding of polymers and polymer processing.
- Ability to develop a solid understanding of product specifications and functionalities.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting, problem-solving, and customer relationship management.
- Experience with CRM software (Salesforce preferred) and technical documentation tools is a plus.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Availability for domestic and international travel to provide on-site customer support as necessary.
SKILLS
- Technical expertise in relevant product domains (extrusion, injection molding, polymer blending, chemistry, biology or polymer sealing, bonding and assemblies).
- Customer-focused mindset with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Good presentation and technical writing skills.
- Project management and organizational skills.
- Computer literacy and familiarity with internal company systems.
