About the job Analyst, Competitive Intelligence
Our client, a leading Am Law 100 law firm, is seeking an Analyst, Competitive Intelligence to support the firm's business development and research efforts. This role focuses on delivering actionable insights on clients, prospects, competitors, and lateral candidates to key stakeholders across the firm's global offices.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct research and analysis on clients, prospects, and markets using tools such as Lexis, Capital IQ, PitchBook, Mergermarket, Lex Machina, and D&B Hoovers
Provide business and litigation intelligence to support pitches, proposals, and strategic initiatives
Prepare biographical and company background reports for client and lateral recruiting meetings
Analyze court dockets and other legal data to identify trends and support firm positioning
Support lateral hiring and business development strategies with market and competitor insights
Maintain internal tracking and metrics for CI-related activities and outputs
Evaluate and recommend new research tools and technologies
Deliver training on research tools and best practices to business development and marketing staff
Collaborate with team members across departments and contribute to cross-functional initiatives
Handle additional related projects and occasional overtime as needed
Skills & Proficiencies:
Strong research skills with proficiency in legal and business intelligence tools
Ability to analyze, synthesize, and communicate complex data clearly and efficiently
Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Highly organized and able to manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment
Strong client service orientation and ability to work collaboratively with minimal supervision
Foundational knowledge of law firm operations, legal concepts, and marketing principles
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree required (preferred focus in business, law, or research disciplines)
1+ years of competitive intelligence experience in a legal or professional services setting
3+ years of experience in business development or related roles within a law firm or similar environment (professional services etc)
