We are looking for Clinical Assistants in the following locations: 

  • Georgetown
  • Round Rock
  • Pflugerville

Job Description:

The Clinical Assistant plays a dual role for front and back office clinical functions, spending about 50% of their time in each role. They perform a variety of duties that are clerical in nature, as well as assist in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of licensed medical and/or licensed nursing team members.

What you will do:

  • Deliver front-line customer service to patients, offering initial patient customer service, including greeting, scheduling appointments, data entry into NextGen, and file creation.
  • Handles patient check-in/out and explains payment options like sliding scale fees, Medicare, Medicaid, and financial aid.
  • Gather and record patient payments, prepare deposits, and adhere to cash handling protocols.
  • Conduct patient intakes, income screenings, and verify/authorize insurance.
  • Offers conflict resolution and addresses patient concerns with care and positivity.
  • Create and maintain confidential patient files and records.
  • Uphold clinical competencies and ensure compliance with quality metrics set by the Quality Council.

Clinical Duties:

  • Obtain, evaluate, and record patient history
  • Obtain and measure vital signs and record information on patients' charts
  • Prepare and maintain examination/treatment rooms, including cleaning and sterilizing instruments, and inventory of medical supplies and materials.
  • Assisting the examination of patients under the direction of licensed medical and/or licensed nursing staff.
  • Explain treatment procedures to patients under the direction of licensed medical and/or licensed nursing staff.
  • May be required to draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis.
  • Prepare and administer medications as ordered by licensed medical and/or licensed nursing staff.
  • Perform routine diagnostic and laboratory tests.
  • Ability to follow standing orders and provide treatments according to established protocols.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Bilingual in spanish huge plus
  • Six months prior experience in a professional administrative or related capacity is required, with prior medical office or healthcare setting experience preferred.
  • Current Basic Life Support certification for healthcare providers from the American Heart Association is required.
  • Medical Assistant Certificate from one of the following organizations preferred.

1. CMA - American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA)

2. RMA - American Medical Technologists (AMT)

3. CCMA- National Health Career Association (NHA)

4. NRCMA through National Association of Health Professionals (NAHP)

5. NCMA- National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT)
