About Causal

We're building a new way to think and work with numbers. Causal is a tool for performing calculations, visualising data, and communicating with numbers. We take the good parts of spreadsheets and combine them with the good parts of programming, to make number-crunching fast, collaborative, and accessible to everyone. We are well-funded by some great VCs (Accel, Coatue, Passion Capital) and angel investors (Naval Ravikant, Scott Belsky, and many more) across the US and Europe.

As a Product Engineer, you'll contribute to our client's mission by implementing features, fixing bugs, and creating processes that amplify the effectiveness of the entire engineering team. You will be entrusted with writing well-tested and maintainable code, and will take ownership of significant parts of the code base.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Implement smaller fixes/features with well-tested and maintainable code.

2. Carry out more complex changes and take ownership of key parts of the code base.

3. Continually improve our product and processes, driving product development forward.

4. Source candidates for our engineering hiring pipeline.

5. Collaborate with other engineers, designers, and customer success team members to ensure the product meets customer needs and expectations.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. 3+ years of relevant experience in a software engineering role, excluding contracting.

2. Strong experience with React/Typescript (3+ years).

3. Experience with complex tools, or having worked at a Series A-C startup on a chart or data visualization tool.

4. Excellent software engineering skills: ability to write scalable, well-tested, and maintainable code.

5. Detail-oriented mindset with a commitment to not breaking our production system.

6. Excellent communication skills: ability to collaborate effectively with other engineers, designers, and customer success team members.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. A degree in Computer Science.

2. Experience with open-source projects and significant career progression.

3. Prior experience working with Aggrid, our table library.

4. Proven product sense and a commitment to customer experience and UX.
