About the job Commercial & Operations Associate

Commercial & Operations Associate

Mantisonix | Guildford, Surrey | Hybrid working available| £27,000–£32,000 | Full-time (part-time considered) | Start date July/August 2026

If you're passionate about tackling one of the most pressing environmental challenges of our time, Mantisonix offers a rare opportunity to work at the commercial heart of a fast-growing PFAS destruction company. You'll help us bring our technology to market, build the relationships that get it deployed, and keep the business running smoothly behind the scenes.

We're a two-person founding team growing to four, validated at TRL 6, and backed by the Royal Academy of Engineering plus £690k in non-dilutive grants from Innovate UK, the UK–India Partnership, and the Surrey Economic Growth Fund. We're investor-ready, field-ready, and moving fast.

The role

This is a broad, high-impact role suitable for STEM graduates or early-career professionals, sitting at the intersection of business development, marketing, and operations. You'll work directly with the founders - supporting commercial outreach, shaping how we communicate our technology to the world, and making sure the day-to-day business runs as efficiently as our pilot plants.

No two weeks will look the same. One day you might be researching a new client prospect or drafting a LinkedIn post; the next you're preparing materials for an investor meeting, tracking invoices, or coordinating logistics for a field trial. We're a small team, which means your contribution is visible, your ideas get heard, and your work directly shapes the direction of the company.

This role will suit you if you're energised by variety and comfortable operating without a playbook. It is not the right role if you're looking for a structured corporate environment with clearly defined processes and a narrow remit.

A driving licence is preferred as travel to client meetings and industry events across the region will be a regular part of the role.

What you'll be doing

Business development and client engagement - Managing and maintaining our CRM to keep the pipeline clear and up to date. Researching and identifying potential clients, partners, and market opportunities. Supporting outreach activity and following up on all client-initiated enquiries. Preparing materials for meetings, proposals, and investor or client discussions. Attending industry events and capturing next steps.

Operations and team support - Maintaining clear documentation of service activities for internal and external reference. Coordinating meetings, calendars, and internal communications. Supporting financial administration including invoice tracking and liaison with our accountants. Managing suppliers and service providers, keeping digital records organised and accessible.

Marketing and market intelligence - Planning and delivering LinkedIn content and supporting wider outreach efforts. Maintaining and improving core marketing materials including the website, presentations, and one-pagers. Conducting market research and competitor analysis to inform our commercial strategy.

What we're looking for

Essential:

  • A degree in a STEM subject (preferred) with a strong interest in business and marketing, relevant commercial or operational experience, or a combination of both
  • Self-motivated and comfortable taking initiative - you don't need to be told what to do next
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Organised and detail-oriented, with a high personal standard for the quality of your work
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with digital tools including LinkedIn

Bonus points for:

  • Experience with CRM systems or digital marketing tools
  • An outgoing, personable communication style - you're comfortable talking to clients, partners, and stakeholders at all levels
  • A driving licence for regional travel

We actively encourage applications from candidates of all backgrounds, identities, and experiences. Diversity of perspective makes our business stronger, and we're committed to building a team that reflects the world we're trying to protect. If you don't meet every point on this list but feel strongly that you're the right person for this role, please apply and tell us why.

The kind of person who will thrive here

You're sharp, organised, and genuinely curious about the technology and the market around it - you need an active interest in science, and to enjoy getting your head around complex ideas quickly. You're outgoing and build relationships naturally. You take feedback well, ask good questions, and bring energy and ideas rather than waiting to be directed.

You probably find slow-moving environments frustrating. You want to work somewhere your effort is visible and your contribution matters. You care about the environment and want your work to mean something beyond the day-to-day.

We're a coachable team and we expect the same from everyone who joins us. There's a lot to learn here - about the industry, the commercial landscape, the technology - and we'll invest in your development. But you need to want that.

What we offer

  • Direct exposure to and mentorship from both founders in a high-impact, fast-growing deep-tech business
  • A varied role where no two days look the same and your work has real impact
  • Flexible hybrid working
  • Salary: £27,000-£32,000 depending on experience
  • Strong learning and development opportunities, with dedicated time for upskilling
  • Part-time applications also considered

Mantisonix is an equal opportunities employer. We welcome applications from individuals regardless of age, disability, gender identity, race, religion or belief, marital status, sex, or sexual orientation.
