Responsibilities

  • Represent the client during offshore geophysical and geotechnical site investigation campaigns.
  • Monitor and supervise contractor performance, ensuring compliance with project scope, technical requirements, and HSE policies.
  • Provide QA/QC of geotechnical and geophysical data (CPT, sampling, borehole logging, seismic, bathymetric, and geohazard data).
  • Act as the key communication link between the client, contractors, and onshore project teams.
  • Review and enforce contractual obligations, addressing issues to prevent delays or cost overruns.
  • Ensure safe and efficient execution of drilling, sampling, and seabed testing operations, including CPT, vibrocoring, piston coring, and ROV-assisted drilling.
  • Conduct geohazard assessments and provide advisory for spudcan analysis, platform foundation design, and pipeline/cable route planning.
  • Participate in daily progress meetings, prepare site reports, and escalate critical issues to the project manager as required.
  • Verify and validate contractor deliverables, including field logs, preliminary data, and final reports.
  • Support risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for operations in shallow gas or geohazard-prone areas.

Requirements

  • Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in offshore geophysical and geotechnical site investigation, including roles as CSR, Project Manager, or Subject Matter Expert.
  • Proven track record in offshore soil investigation, foundation assessment, and geohazard evaluation within oil & gas or energy projects.
  • Strong knowledge of offshore drilling and testing systems (CPT, seabed drilling, vibrocorer, piston corer, ROV drill, laboratory testing).
  • Experience managing multidisciplinary teams and liaising between contractors and operators.
  • Familiar with international offshore HSE regulations, risk management, and compliance requirements.
  • Previous experience with PETRONAS or major oil & gas operators is highly desirable.
  • Offshore Geotechnical Investigation (CPT, sampling, boreholes, vibrocoring, seabed testing).
  • Geophysical Survey Data Interpretation (sub-bottom profiling, side-scan sonar, bathymetry, seismic).
  • Spudcan penetration analysis and foundation risk assessment.
  • Contract management and QA/QC of contractor deliverables
  • Offshore geohazard assessment and mitigation planning.
  • Strong leadership and decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent problem-solving and negotiation skills.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to manage stakeholders across multiple disciplines.
  • Adaptability in dynamic offshore environments.
