Position Summary:

We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-driven Customs Entry Writer to join our team in Erlanger, KY. This on-site position is responsible for ensuring the accurate and timely processing of import shipments in compliance with U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) regulations and other government agencies. The ideal candidate will have experience in customs brokerage, a deep understanding of HTS classification, and a strong commitment to compliance and customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and file accurate customs entries for import shipments in accordance with CBP and PGA (Partner Government Agency) regulations.

  • Classify goods using the Harmonized Tariff Schedule (HTS) and ensure proper valuation and duty calculation.

  • Review and verify commercial documents such as invoices, packing lists, and bills of lading.

  • Communicate with importers, carriers, and government agencies to resolve documentation issues or regulatory concerns.

  • Monitor shipment statuses and proactively address delays or holds (e.g., exams, PGA releases).

  • Coordinate release of goods through customs and ensure timely delivery to final destination.

  • Maintain accurate and complete records for audit purposes in compliance with CBP requirements.

  • Stay current with changes in customs regulations, trade agreements, and tariff schedules.

  • Provide excellent customer service through timely communication and issue resolution.

  • Collaborate with internal teams including operations, compliance, and customer service.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate or Bachelors degree in International Trade, Business, or related field preferred.

  • 2+ years of experience as a Customs Entry Writer or in customs brokerage.

  • Solid understanding of U.S. import regulations, HTS classification, valuation, and Free Trade Agreements (FTAs).

  • Experience with ACE, ABI, and customs brokerage software (e.g., Cargowise, Descartes) preferred.

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.

  • Excellent communication and customer service abilities.

  • Ability to prioritize workload and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).

Work Environment:

  • This is a full-time, on-site position in Erlanger, KY.
