Presales Engineer
About the job Presales Engineer
Responsibilities
- Design, Bid Estimation and Tender responses.
- Provide assistance to Sales, involving innovative use of latest technology in establishing system design.
- Assessment for customer site for installation requirements and installation design.
- Provide technical direction to project team members.
- Internal interfaces to Management, Sales, Logistics, Suppliers and Project Teams.
- Partner with account managers to develop strong relationships and opportunities with clients
- Ability to interface with senior-level customer contacts, identify customer needs, add technical expertise to customer proposals - adding value through inclusion of all company pillars
- Leading meetings providing thought leadership to present portfolio and technical solutions to internal/external clients and partners
- Participate in pre-bidding decision making efforts: review preliminary drawings and specifications, perform site visits, fully document information gathered
- Serve as a technical liaison for customers, vendors, partners, subcontractors and Solutions Engineering team members
- Proactively develop innovative solutions and programs to enhance business opportunities
- Actively assist account managers in closing opportunities
- Lead multidisciplinary teams of Solutions Engineers in our portfolio to develop cost summaries and proposals for complex projects
- Implement and make recommendations to improve methodologies, core competencies and processes for deployment engineering to ensure stable and quality product & service delivery consistent with company objectives and client expectations
- Maintains competency in established area(s) of expertise through vendor and industry training
- Actively and consistently recommend and support all efforts to improve, simplify, automate and enhance day to day operations and the client experience
- Additional duties as assigned
Technical Skills
- Sales Engineers must be strong technology generalists who can speak with authority on a broad range of cabling and technology topics. They must have a strong working knowledge in the following technology areas
- Network Infrastructure (copper/fiber cabling)
- Edge Device cabling and integration
- Campus and inner-building backbone cabling
- Physical Security (Camera design/placement, access control is a plus)
- Paging and Sound Masking Systems
- Data Center Buildout
