About the Role
We are seeking a Controls Engineer / Maintenance Technician with strong hands‑on experience in PLC troubleshooting, robotics, CNC controls, and automated manufacturing systems. This is a floor‑based, technical role supporting equipment reliability, breakdown recovery, and continuous improvement initiatives in a high‑volume automotive environment.
You will work directly with the Maintenance Manager and play a critical role in diagnosing electrical and automation issues, supporting production uptime, and ensuring safe, compliant troubleshooting practices.
Core Responsibilities
Controls & Automation Support
- Troubleshoot and repair Allen‑Bradley PLC systems
- Interpret electrical schematics and ladder logic for rapid diagnostics
- Support and modify HMI programs
- Troubleshoot servo systems, motion control, and CNC controls
- Support Fanuc robot troubleshooting and basic programming adjustments
- Assist with Safety PLC validation and machine safety systems
- Troubleshoot and support vision systems
Breakdown Response & Uptime Support
- Respond quickly to equipment downtime events
- Diagnose root causes of electrical and controls failures
- Support production during high‑impact downtime
- Collaborate with maintenance technicians to restore equipment safely
Preventive & Predictive Maintenance
- Perform PM tasks on electrical and automation systems
- Document findings and corrective actions in CMMS
- Identify failure trends and recommend improvements
Safety & Compliance
- Follow OSHA, NFPA, arc flash, and LOTO procedures
- Maintain safe troubleshooting practices
- Support machine safety system integrity
Required Experience
- 3–5+ years industrial controls or electrical troubleshooting experience
- 5+ years troubleshooting Allen‑Bradley PLC systems
- Strong hands‑on experience with:
- Allen‑Bradley PLCs
- Ladder logic troubleshooting
- HMI troubleshooting/modification
- Servo systems & motion control
- CNC machinery controls
- Industrial electrical systems
- Fanuc robot troubleshooting
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
- Experience in automated manufacturing environments
- Ability to work in a floor‑based, hands‑on role
Preferred Qualifications
- PLC program integration or modification experience
- Safety PLC troubleshooting
- Vision system experience
- CNC programming exposure
- CMMS experience
- Mechatronics, Electrical Technology, or related training
Work Structure
- Reports directly to Maintenance Manager
- Contract labor position
- Floor‑based role in a manufacturing environment
- May require flexibility during critical downtime or project needs
