Job Overview:
We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Staff Pharmacist to join a well-established healthcare facility in Pittsfield, Massachusetts. In this role, you will be responsible for verifying medication orders, preparing pharmaceuticals for distribution, and providing essential drug-related education to healthcare staff and patients. You'll also be expected to stay up-to-date on automated medication dispensing systems and ensure compliance with relevant protocols and procedures.
This part-time opportunity offers 32 hours per week across variable shifts, including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
Responsibilities:

  • Accurately verify and prepare medications for patients, clinics, and employees.
  • Dispense pharmaceuticals following clinical protocols and safety standards.
  • Provide drug information and education to medical staff, patients, and families.
  • Utilize and monitor automated medication dispensing systems.
  • Adhere to hospital and departmental policies at all times.
  • Supervise support personnel as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy or PharmD from an accredited institution.
  • Licensure: Must hold a current Massachusetts Pharmacist License (MAPHARM).
  • Experience:
    • 1-2 years of hospital pharmacy experience preferred.
    • Familiarity with unit dose dispensing, IV admixture, and chemotherapy preparation is advantageous.
    • Must be comfortable using pharmacy-related computer systems.
  • Skills:
    • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Leadership qualities for overseeing support staff.
