Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Medical Director to provide psychiatric care, clinical leadership, and medical oversight within a community‑based behavioral health program. This role supports both in‑person and telehealth psychiatric services for children, adolescents, and adults with a range of behavioral health needs.
The Medical Director will collaborate closely with Behavioral Health Services leadership, provide consultation to multidisciplinary teams, and contribute to policy development, quality improvement, and clinical excellence across the organization. This is a high‑impact leadership role ideal for a psychiatrist who values community mental health and integrated care.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct psychiatric evaluations, medication reviews, and required clinical documentation.
- Prescribe and monitor medications; order and review laboratory tests as needed.
- Provide both in‑person and telehealth psychiatric services based on client needs.
- Participate in behavior treatment committee meetings and approve behavior plans.
- Offer clinical oversight and consultation to clinicians across disciplines.
- Coordinate psychiatric service delivery across the agency.
- Assist in developing procedures, protocols, and clinical workflows.
- Evaluate the quality and appropriateness of psychiatric and medical services.
- Lead or participate in medical staff meetings, compliance reviews, and root cause analyses.
- Provide in‑service training for clinicians on psychiatric and clinical topics.
- Participate in recruitment, supervision, and peer review of psychiatric staff.
- Support quality improvement initiatives and ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
Education & Experience Requirements
- M.D. or D.O. with active license to practice medicine in Michigan.
- Board certification in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry required.
- Substance Abuse Certification preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience working with child and adult behavioral health populations.
- Knowledge of the Detroit/Wayne County Community Mental Health System preferred.

- Experience with substance use disorders and dual‑diagnosis populations.
- Proficiency with telehealth platforms and electronic medical records.
Licensing & Other Requirements
- Valid driver's license and/or reliable transportation.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development through continuing education.
