About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Project Engineer to lead high‑voltage (HV) substation design projects up to 765kV. This role combines technical leadership in Protection & Controls (P&C) and/or Physical Substation Design with full project execution responsibilities, including schedule, budget, QA/QC, and client coordination.

This is not a distribution, low‑voltage, medium‑voltage, or O&M role. Candidates must have direct HV substation design experience.

What You'll Do

Project Leadership

  • Serve as Project Lead or Technical Specialist on HV substation projects
  • Lead small electrical engineering teams
  • Manage project scope, schedule, budget, and quality

Protection & Controls (P&C) Design

  • Develop and review:

    • One‑line and three‑line diagrams
    • AC/DC schematics
    • Relay panel wiring diagrams
    • Protective relay settings
    • Control building layouts

Physical Substation Design

  • Develop and review:

    • Yard layout plans (2D/3D)
    • Grounding and lightning protection
    • Equipment arrangements
    • Auxiliary AC/DC systems

Quality & Coordination

  • Perform QA/QC reviews of engineering packages
  • Prepare equipment specifications and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Coordinate with clients, vendors, and multidisciplinary teams
  • Mentor junior engineers and review their work

Additional Responsibilities

  • Support proposal development and business development efforts
  • Attend client meetings, design reviews, and occasional site visits

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 5+ years of high‑voltage substation design experience
  • Experience in Protection & Controls and/or Physical Substation Design
  • Project Lead experience on HV substation projects
  • Experience managing scope, schedule, and budget
  • Strong understanding of QA/QC processes

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license (preferred)
  • Experience with utility substation clients
  • Experience performing formal QA/QC reviews
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam Revu and Microsoft Office

Work Structure

  • First 90 days: Full‑time onsite
  • After 90 days: Hybrid (3 days onsite)
