Job Description for Student Pastor

Summary

The Student Pastor is one who is gifted and is called to student ministry within the local church, loves people, and has a passion for evangelism, outreach, and missions both personally and at the ministry level within a multi-generational congregation setting. He has a passion for the Word of God and desire to proclaim the Word of God with conviction and confidence, always moving those under his care towards taking consistent spiritual steps. He also has a deep passion for ministering to middle and high school students and their parents, understanding the unique spiritual significance of discipleship in those stages of life.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide vision, leadership, and oversight for Emmauss student ministry (Eikon, ministry to 6-12th grade students)
  • Serve as the primary preacher in student ministry environments
  • Recruit, qualify, and develop volunteer leaders to serve in student ministry environments
  • Plan, develop, and execute service plans for student ministry gatherings (gatherings will be weekly, year-round)
  • Plan for and organize quarterly events including summer camps and retreats
  • Develop and provide discipleship materials/programs to equip parents of students
  • Initiate and maintain relationships with the parents/guardians of our students, consistently communicating with them
  • Create and steward strategic partnerships with local schools
  • Be present in the lives of our students outside of official student ministry gatherings (attending shows, games, graduations, etc.)
  • Manage promotional efforts for all student ministry events
  • Attend staff meetings and other necessary planning meetings
  • Support the overall vision and values of the elder team

Qualifications

  • Proven evidence of elder qualifications (1 Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:5-9, and 1 Peter 5:1-4) and ministry faithfulness
  • Previous experience in a pastoral or ministerial role which included ministry to middle and high school students and developing and training volunteer leaders
  • Previous experience in long-range strategic planning for a programmatic ministry
  • Complete alignment with our statement of faith, doctrine, mission, and core values
  • Complete alignment with the Acts 29 Statement of Faith
