As part of a multi-year public initiative with New York City Department of Design and Construction, ANE is supporting the Borough-Based Jails Program, replacing the Rikers Island complex with four new modern detention facilities across New York City.
About the Role
As Deputy Design–Technical Lead, you will serve in a program-wide leadership role supporting AECOM–Hill JV on the NYC DDC Rikers Program. You will help manage the delivery of four $3–4 billion high-rise design-build facilities located in Brooklyn, The Bronx, Queens, and Manhattan, working from a Midtown East Manhattan office.
Reporting to the Design–Technical Track Lead, you will collaborate with Design Managers and Engineering Specialists to ensure program goals and requirements are achieved while coordinating with Sponsor Agencies and directing Design-Build teams.
Key Responsibilities

Identify and address technical and engineering-related topics, including emerging site conditions, Design-Builder issues, NYC DOC and Sponsor Agency requirements, and DDC directives

Ensure appropriate technical resources are engaged and manage issues through resolution
Lead Design-Builder work sessions as a senior design-technical representative
Attend asset management, radio, communications, and other technical coordination meetings; capture action items and communicate requirements back to the team and client
Guide and coordinate Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and engineering specialists, ensuring alignment with program updates and requirements
Review progress design submittals and coordinate technical review comments
Follow up on RFIs and design submittals to ensure compliance with program requirements
Requirements

Bachelors degree in Architecture, Engineering, or related discipline required

Over 10 years of progressive technical design experience, including multi-story or high-rise project experience
Experience working with NYC agencies, government conditions, or design-build program management environments
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Bluebeam Studio
Experience coordinating design-technical SMEs across MEP, low-voltage, and specialty disciplines
Architectural or Engineering license strongly desired
