Are you a highly experienced and inspiring accounting leader ready to take on a pivotal role within a rapidly growing global medical device company? Our client, a publicly traded firm focused on vascular solutions, is seeking a Financial Controller to join their team in the San Francisco Bay Area

This is a key leadership position where you'll own critical aspects of the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, conduct insightful financial statement analysis, and directly support the Assistant Controller and Controller on technical accounting matters and departmental management. What You'll Work On:

You'll be instrumental in shaping our client's financial operations and developing a high-performing team. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Selecting, managing, training, and developing a team of accounting professionals. You'll set objectives, make assignments, and provide ongoing feedback through performance reviews and development plans.
  • Leading and managing the team responsible for U.S. general ledger functions and selected international close activities.
  • Serving as a key contributor to the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes, meticulously managing timelines and deliverables to ensure timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
  • Overseeing core components of the close cycle, including the preparation and review of journal entries, account reconciliations, and fluctuation analyses.
  • Guiding your team in preparing and presenting financial results, identifying key trends, and providing actionable insights to senior management.
  • Partnering closely with the Assistant Controller and Controller to oversee departmental operations, including work allocation and issue resolution.
  • Leading the implementation, integration, and ongoing maintenance of new and existing accounting systems and processes.
  • Driving automation and continuous improvement initiatives aimed at shortening the close cycle, minimizing manual tasks, and standardizing processes for optimal efficiency.
  • Reviewing supporting documentation for SEC filings, external audits, and other statutory reporting, and coordinating seamlessly with external auditors as needed.
  • Supporting senior management with ad hoc projects and strategic initiatives, leveraging your expertise to contribute to broader company goals.
  • Providing technical accounting expertise and staying current on all applicable accounting guidance and standards.
  • Ensuring effective internal controls are in place for the financial close process, supporting SOX compliance and mitigating financial risk through strict adherence to policy and procedure.

What You'll Contribute:

Our client is looking for a seasoned accounting professional with:

  • A Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field with 15+ years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • A comprehensive understanding of U.S. GAAP, internal controls, and full-cycle accounting experience are required.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is a significant plus.
  • 10+ years of experience in a supervisory role is highly desired.
  • Strong analytical abilities, as well as excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • A high degree of accuracy and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and other standard office tools.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to prioritize assignments and manage various projects simultaneously.
