Position Overview
As the Assistant Manager, you will work side-by-side with the Imaging Services Manager to oversee day-to-day clinical and administrative operations. This is a "working manager" role where you will split your time between supervising staff and directly participating in imaging procedures (dependent on your specific licensure).
You will help lead a talented team across multiple modalities—including Diagnostic Radiography, Fluoroscopy, DEXA, Mammography, Ultrasound, and CT—while ensuring the highest standards of safety, regulatory compliance, and patient satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Departmental Leadership & Staff Supervision
- Coordinate day-to-day imaging services to ensure efficient, safe, and accurate workflows.
- Supervise, mentor, and schedule technologists and ancillary staff; manage daily staffing levels to optimize productivity.
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, clinical training, and annual performance evaluations.
- Act as a bridge between frontline staff and executive leadership to maintain accountability and a positive team culture.
Clinical Oversight & Technical Duties (Working Manager)
- Perform clinical imaging procedures within your scope of license to support the team during peak hours or staffing shortages.
- Oversee equipment maintenance and ensure all machinery complies with ACR and manufacturer standards.
- Lead quality control programs, including image quality reviews and documentation audits (e.g., EQUIP for mammography).
Regulatory & Quality Compliance
- Maintain departmental readiness for all state and federal audits/inspections.
- Ensure strict adherence to regulatory and accrediting agency guidelines (MQSA, ACR, CDPH, FDA, RHB, CMS).
- Oversee documentation related to radiation safety, HIPAA, and infection control.
Position Requirements
Education & Certifications (Required):
- Education: Associate's degree from an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- Licensure: Current California Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT) License.
- Certification: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certification.
- Life Safety: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
Experience & Skills:
- Proven leadership capability with the ability to coach, mentor, and lead peers effectively.
- Technical proficiency in PACS, RIS, and EMR systems.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple quality assurance and regulatory priorities simultaneously.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with a commitment to "white-glove" patient service.
Preferred Qualifications (Highly Desirable):
- California Mammography Certification.
- Direct experience with EQUIP documentation and MQSA audits.
- Familiarity with Breast Care Coordination software.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods, and safely lift/move patients or heavy imaging equipment as needed.
- Potential exposure to ionizing radiation (with strict adherence to provided safety protocols and dosimetry monitoring).
- Flexibility to work occasional weekends or holidays based on departmental and patient needs.
