Director of Nursing Labor & Delivery

Full-Time | Days | $25,000 Sign-On Bonus Eligible
Location: Joshua Tree, CA
Salary Range: $135,200 - $216,320 per year

About the Role

Envoy Recruitment is seeking an experienced Director of Nursing Labor & Delivery to lead inpatient maternal-child services within a 59-bed acute care facility serving its surrounding community with maternity care, womens health, diagnostic services, and a range of outpatient programs.

The Director will oversee daily departmental operations, ensure high-quality, compassionate patient care, and support all regulatory, safety, and accreditation requirements. This role is ideal for a strong L&D nurse leader who values culture-building, operational efficiency, and high standards of maternal care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for all Labor & Delivery nursing operations

  • Model excellence in patient care and ensure consistently high standards

  • Delegate effectively and manage team performance to drive strong outcomes

  • Maintain compliance with state, federal, and Joint Commission regulations

  • Partner with administrative leaders on strategic planning and performance improvement

  • Support recruitment, retention, staff education, and competency development

  • Manage departmental budgets to meet financial goals

  • Promote a positive, collaborative environment for patients, families, and staff

Physical Demands

  • Ability to assist with lifting and positioning patients

  • Occasional prolonged standing, walking, stooping, or bending

  • Exposure to patient-care environments, including bodily fluids, infectious diseases, and emergency situations

  • Requires critical judgment in high-acuity or unpredictable scenarios

What You Bring

Education & Licensure

  • Current RN license (state of practice)

  • Current CPR certification

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years RN experience

  • Minimum 2 years supervisory experience at the manager or director level

  • Strong leadership capability with proven delegation and operational management skills
