Industry: Manufacturing (Plastics & Packaging)

Reports to : Director

Location: Aba, Abia State (On-site with regional travel)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Salary : Competitive

Client Overview
As an established industrial packaging and plastic manufacturing enterprise headquartered in Aba, Abia State, we specialize in high-density polyethylene (HDPE), polypropylene (PP), industrial paint pails, drums, and domestic plastic containers. We supply essential packaging solutions to chemical processors, paint companies, agro-allied firms, and FMCG manufacturers across Nigeria. To support our current commercial expansion across the South-East and South-South geopolitical zones, we are aggressively expanding our distributor network and B2B market presence.

Role Overview
The Commercial Marketer will provide strategic commercial drive, field sales leadership, and route-to-market execution on the ground across the South-East and South-South regions, bridging factory production capabilities with high-volume market demand.

This role goes beyond account maintenance. The successful candidate will own the regional distribution footprint—aggressively acquiring B2B corporate buyers, building a network of 30+ credit-worthy distributors, enforcing cash flow discipline through strict credit control, and gathering real-time market intelligence to ensure continuous factory utilization without requiring daily executive intervention.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Revenue Generation

  • Own and execute the monthly volume and sales revenue strategy across target product lines (paint buckets, industrial drums, pails, and domestic plastics).
  • Drive direct B2B sales pipelines by prospecting and closing high-volume supply contracts with paint manufacturers, chemical companies, food processors, and agro-allied enterprises.
  • Execute structured field-sales routes across major industrial zones and commercial wholesale markets to maximize market share and brand availability.

Dealer Development & Channel Management

  • Recruit, onboard, and manage 30+ active, credit-worthy distributors and wholesale dealers across key hubs (Aba, Onitsha, Port Harcourt, Uyo, Calabar, Benin, and Enugu).
  • Enforce distributor territorial coverage, minimum order quantities (MOQs), and shelf stock availability to maintain dominant market presence.
  • Resolve channel conflicts, manage dealer credit thresholds, and optimize regional delivery logistics in coordination with factory supply chain units.

Credit Control & Cash Flow Integrity

  • Enforce strict commercial credit policies, ensuring a minimum baseline of 80% cash-on-delivery or strict 7-day credit terms.
  • Track receivables daily to maintain zero tolerance for bad debt, conducting prompt payment collections on all aging accounts before issuing new stock.
  • Conduct creditworthiness assessments on all prospective wholesale buyers prior to contract execution.

Market Intelligence & Operational Feedback Loop

  • Submit weekly structured market intelligence reports detailing competitor price points, new market entrants, distributor margin shifts, and customer demand trends.
  • Gather customer feedback on product durability, lid-sealing performance, and structural specifications, feeding actionable insights back to Plant Operations for product enhancement.
  • Represent the company at regional trade association meetings, market union forums, and commercial expos to elevate corporate visibility.

Key Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or HND in Marketing, Business Administration, Purchasing & Supply, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 4+ years of hands-on sales and marketing experience within plastic manufacturing, industrial packaging, building materials, or chemical distribution environments (non-negotiable).
  • An active, established network of distributors, wholesale dealers, and industrial paint/chemical buyers across South-East and South-South Nigeria.
  • Demonstrated track record of managing credit risk, enforcing payment schedules, and achieving multi-million naira monthly sales targets.
  • Valid driver's license, willingness to undertake regular regional travel, and strong knowledge of South-East and South-South commercial terrain.
  • Must currently reside in Aba, Abia State, or be prepared to relocate immediately.

Performance Targets (KPIs)

  • Monthly Revenue Milestone: Scale regional sales volume to ₦500M+ monthly within 6 months.
  • Distributor Network Expansion: Onboard and maintain 30+ active, credit-worthy distributors across assigned territories.
  • Credit & Receivables Control: Enforce the 80% cash / 7-day credit policy, maintaining overdue bad debt at < 2%.
  • Territorial Coverage: Maintain a 100% weekly route coverage rate across key industrial accounts and wholesale dealer hubs.
