About the Role
The Field Loan Officer will be responsible for sourcing, assessing, and managing loan opportunities within assigned communities and business clusters. The role involves engaging directly with prospective clients, conducting credit assessments, and ensuring proper loan utilization and repayment.
You will play a key role in expanding the institution's loan portfolio while maintaining high credit quality standards and building strong relationships with customers.
Key Responsibilities
Loan Sourcing & Client Acquisition

Identify and engage potential borrowers including individuals, traders, and small business owners

Promote the organization's loan products within assigned locations and business clusters

Build and maintain strong relationships with clients to support business growth and customer retention

Conduct field visits and market outreach activities to generate new loan opportunities
Credit Assessment & Loan Processing

Conduct preliminary credit assessments of loan applicants

Collect and verify client documentation required for loan processing

Evaluate applicants' repayment capacity and business viability

Prepare and submit loan applications and supporting documents for approval
Loan Monitoring & Portfolio Management

Monitor loan utilization to ensure funds are used for approved purposes

Track repayment schedules and follow up with clients to ensure timely repayment

Proactively manage delinquent accounts and support recovery efforts where necessary
- Maintain a healthy loan portfolio with minimal default risk
Reporting & Documentation

Maintain accurate records of client interactions, loan applications, and repayment activities

Prepare periodic field and loan performance reports for management review

Ensure proper documentation and filing of all loan-related records

Provide regular updates on client feedback, market trends, and loan portfolio performance
Reporting Structure

Reports To: Branch Manager / Credit Manager
Qualifications / Experience
-
Bachelor's degree or HND in Business Administration, Finance, Economics, or related field

Minimum of 2–4 years experience in microfinance, credit administration, sales, or field-based financial services roles

Experience in loan sourcing, credit assessment, or micro-lending operations is an advantage

Familiarity with local markets, small businesses, and community lending practices
