Job Summary
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) provides strategic and operational leadership to ensure the effective functioning of the organization's ministries, programs, and administrative structures. The role involves overseeing day-to-day operations, driving organizational growth, and aligning all activities with the church's spiritual vision and mission.
The ideal candidate is a strong leader with proven administrative expertise and a deep commitment to faith-based service. While not mandatory, the ability to serve as a Resident Pastor or provide spiritual leadership is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership
- Translate the church's vision into actionable operational plans
- Drive execution of strategic initiatives across all departments and ministries
- Support the Senior Pastor in organizational planning and decision-making
Operations Management
- Oversee daily operations including administration, programs, finance coordination, and logistics
- Develop and implement systems, policies, and processes to improve efficiency
- Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and governance requirements
Ministry & Program Oversight
- Supervise ministry leaders and department heads
- Ensure alignment of all programs with the church's doctrinal beliefs and mission
- Monitor and evaluate ministry effectiveness and impact
Financial & Resource Management
- Oversee budgeting processes and ensure prudent resource utilization
- Work with finance teams on financial planning, reporting, and accountability
- Optimize allocation of human and material resources
People & Leadership Development
- Lead, mentor, and manage staff and volunteers
- Foster a strong organizational culture rooted in faith, integrity, and excellence
- Support leadership development within the ministry
Pastoral Support (Preferred)
- Provide spiritual guidance, counseling, and mentorship to members
- Assist in preaching, teaching, and leading services when required
- Potentially serve as Resident Pastor if qualified and needed
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, Theology, or related field (Master's degree is an advantage)
- Minimum of 7–10 years' leadership experience, preferably in a faith-based, nonprofit, or structured organization
- Strong operational, administrative, and strategic planning skills
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage complex organizational structures
- Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills
- Strong financial and analytical acumen

Working Conditions
- Full-time role based in Lagos
- Requires availability on weekends, evenings, and during major church events
- May involve travel within and outside Lagos
Compensation
- Salary: ₦500,000 – ₦600,000 monthly (commensurate with experience)
- Additional benefits may include housing allowance, health coverage, and ministry-related support
