Role Summary
The Head of Equity Trading oversees the firm's equity trading desk, ensuring efficient trade execution, regulatory compliance, and optimal market performance. The role requires a licensed stockbroker with deep experience in equity trading, market analysis, and trade strategy development. The position leads the trading team, manages client order flows, and ensures best execution practices across all market activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the equity trading desk, ensuring timely and accurate execution of client and proprietary trades.
- Develop and implement trading strategies aligned with market conditions, client mandates, and the firm's risk appetite.
- Ensure full compliance with SEC, NSE/NGX, CSCS, and other regulatory requirements governing trading operations.
- Monitor market trends, liquidity patterns, and price movements to support informed trading decisions.
- Oversee order management, trade allocation, and reconciliation processes to ensure accuracy and transparency.
- Maintain strong relationships with institutional clients, brokers, dealers, and market operators.
- Provide daily market insights, trading reports, and performance updates to management and key clients.
Skills & Competencies Criteria
- Strong expertise in equity trading, market microstructure, and order‑execution strategies.
- Deep understanding of NGX trading rules, SEC regulations, and CSCS settlement processes.
- Proven ability to manage high‑volume trades with accuracy and speed.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and technical indicators.
- Proficiency in trading platforms and market‑data tools.
- Strong decision‑making ability under pressure and fast‑moving market conditions.
- Bachelors' degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Licensed stockbroker with an active SEC registration (Compulsory).
- Minimum of 7 years experience in equity trading, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or desk‑lead role.
- Demonstrated track record of successful trade execution and trading‑desk leadership.
- Professional certifications (CFA) is an added advantage.
