Role Summary

The Head of Investment oversees the company's investment strategy, liquidity management, and portfolio performance. The role requires deep expertise in fixed‑income instruments, money‑market placements, treasury operations, and regulatory investment guidelines for insurance companies. The position ensures that the firm maintains adequate liquidity to meet claims obligations while optimizing returns within approved risk limits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and execution of the company's investment strategy in line with regulatory requirements and board‑approved policies.
  • Manage the company's liquidity position to ensure timely settlement of claims, operational expenses, and statutory obligations.
  • Oversee asset allocation across fixed income, money markets, government securities, corporate bonds, and other approved instruments.
  • Monitor daily cash flows, investment maturities, and liquidity buffers to maintain optimal financial stability.
  • Conduct market analysis to identify investment opportunities that align with the company's risk appetite and return objectives.
  • Ensure full compliance with NAICOM investment guidelines, internal policies, and risk‑management frameworks.
  • Prepare investment proposals, performance reports, and portfolio reviews for executive management and the board.
  • Manage relationships with banks, asset managersbrokers, and other financial institutions.
  • Lead due diligence, credit assessments, and risk evaluations for investment decisions.
  • Develop and implement treasury and liquidity‑management processes to enhance efficiency and control.
  • Supervise the investment team, providing guidance, performance oversight, and professional development.
  • Support capital‑planning initiatives and long‑term financial strategy for the company.
Qualifications
  • Bachelors' degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Masters degree (MBA, MSc Finance) is an advantage.
  • 8–12 years experience in investment management, treasury, or portfolio management within insurance or financial services.
  • Professional certifications such as CFA, ACCA, CIS, or ICAN are strong advantages.
  • Demonstrated track record managing liquidity and fixed‑income portfolios.
