Location : Abia (Nigeria)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Reports To: Store Manager / Supply Chain Lead

Company Overview

An established industrial manufacturer specializing in custom thermoplastic engineering and heavy-duty liquid storage solutions. The company designs, fabricates, and maintains high-performance plastic tanks and containment systems for chemical, water, food, and manufacturing sectors. Operating strictly to ISO and international engineering standards, it delivers safety-critical equipment and precision engineering solutions to major industrial clients worldwide.

Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented, highly accountable store officer to oversee store operations, raw material distribution, and finished goods inventory management at our plastic manufacturing plant.

In this role, you will manage raw polymers (HDPE, PP, masterbatches, chemical additives), work-in-progress (WIP/regrind materials), spare parts, and finished plastic products. You will enforce strict weight-based inventory controls, manage ERP data logging, drive FIFO protocols, and ensure seamless material dispatch to the production floor to prevent machine downtime.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory & Raw Material Management

  • Material Receipt & Inspection : Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments of raw polymers (resins, granules, pigments, chemical additives) against purchase orders, delivery notes, and Quality Assurance (QA) release certificates.
  • Weight-Based Reconciliation: Enforce strict weight-based checks (kg/tons) on incoming virgin resins, issued materials, and returned regrind/runner scrap to eliminate material leakage.
  • Issuance to Production : Issue raw materials, masterbatches, and packaging supplies to production shifts according to daily production schedules and approved Store Issue Vouchers (SIV).
  • Batch & Lot Tracking : Maintain accurate batch, lot, and heat-number logs for raw materials to preserve full quality control traceability.

Warehouse Operations & Layout Governance

  • Storage & FIFO/FEFO : Store raw materials, chemical additives, spare parts, and finished products systematically using First-In, First-Out (FIFO) standards to prevent material degradation.
  • Scrap & Regrind Accounting : Maintain dedicated, weighed storage for factory floor scrap, runners, and regrind materials; log all movements back to the recycling bay or stores.
  • Safety & Housekeeping : Enforce 5S principles, chemical safety, fire prevention guidelines, and proper stacking standards across all store bays.

Spare Parts & MRO Management

  • Spare Parts Inventory : Catalog and maintain optimal stock levels for machine spare parts, hydraulic fluids, heating elements, and maintenance tooling.
  • Reorder Level Monitoring :Track minimum stock levels and alert procurement before critical spare parts or high-lead-time resins drop below reorder thresholds.

System Posting & Inventory Audit

  • ERP Data Logging : Record all daily inventory transactions—Goods Received Notes (GRN), Store Issue Vouchers (SIV), and Store Return Notes (SRN)—into the company's ERP software (e.g., Odoo, SAP, Sage, or QuickBooks).
  • Stock Audits : Conduct weekly cycle counts and monthly physical stock-takes alongside internal audit and finance teams, investigating and reporting line-item discrepancies.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

  • Inventory Accuracy : Maintain `>= 98%` stock reconciliation accuracy between ERP records and physical stock counts.
  • Material Issuance Timeliness : Zero production downtime caused by store delays in issuing raw materials or machine spare parts.
  • Weight Variance Control : Maintain `< 0.5%` unexplained weight variance between raw material issued and production output/regrind returns.
  • Data Entry Cadence : 100% same-day posting of all GRNs, SIVs, and SRNs into the ERP platform.
  • Safety & 5S : Zero workplace incidents or material damage due to improper stacking or unsafe storage practices.

Candidate Profile & Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Education : OND, HND, or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Purchasing & Supply, Business Administration, Accounting, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2–4 years of store/warehouse experience within a plastic manufacturing, packaging, chemical, or heavy industrial manufacturing** facility

Technical & Functional Competencies

  • Plastics Domain Knowledge : Solid familiarity with raw polymer types (HDPE, PP, LLDPE), masterbatches, blow molding/injection molding inputs, and regrind management.
  • ERP & Software Proficiency : Hands-on experience operating inventory modules in ERP systems (Odoo, SAP, Sage, or QuickBooks) and advanced Excel reporting.
  • Weight-Based Inventory Handling :Working knowledge of industrial weighbridges, platform scales, and material conversion calculations.

Personal Attributes

  • High integrity and zero tolerance for material leakage or inventory manipulation.
  • Strong physical stamina, organizational rigor, and attention to detail.
  • Clear communication skills to engage effectively with production supervisors, procurement officers, and finance teams.
