With a strong focus on technology‑enabled lending and customer‑centric service, the bank is expanding its lending operations and seeks a high‑performing Loan Officer to support its growth.



Role Overview
The Loan Officer will be responsible for sourcing, evaluating, disbursing, and managing loan portfolios while ensuring high repayment rates and portfolio quality. The ideal candidate is target‑driven, disciplined, and experienced in micro‑lending within informal and semi‑formal markets.

Key Responsibilities
1. Loan Sourcing & Client Acquisition: Identify and onboard prospective borrowers within assigned markets. Conduct field visits, market scans, and community engagement to generate leads. Build and maintain a strong pipeline of active borrowers.


2. Credit Assessment & Loan Processing: Conduct KYC verification, credit appraisal, and cash‑flow analysis. Prepare loan documentation and submit applications for approval. Ensure fast and accurate turnaround time on loan processing.

3. Loan Disbursement & Portfolio Management: Disburse approved loans in line with bank policies. Monitor borrower performance and ensure timely repayment. Maintain a healthy and high‑quality loan portfolio.

4. Loan Recovery & Delinquency Management: Follow up on overdue accounts and implement recovery strategies. Conduct field recovery visits when necessary. Maintain low PAR and NPL levels through proactive monitoring.

5. Reporting & Compliance: Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly loan performance reports.Ensure compliance with internal credit policies and regulatory standards. Maintain accurate and updated client records.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • OND/HND/BSc in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field.
  • 1–3 years' experience as a Loan Officer in a microfinance bank or lending institution.
  • Strong knowledge of micro‑lending, credit analysis, and field operations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer‑relationship skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet aggressive targets.
  • Must reside in Ajah or be willing to work in the Ajah axis.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
The Loan Officer will be evaluated based on:

  • Loan Disbursement Volume: Monthly and quarterly disbursement targets achieved.
  • Portfolio Quality: Low Portfolio at Risk (PAR) and Non‑Performing Loan (NPL) ratios.
  • Loan Repayment Rate: Percentage of loans repaid on schedule.
  • Number of Active Borrowers: Growth and retention of borrower base.
  • Recovery Rate: Effectiveness in recovering overdue or defaulted loans.
  • Turnaround Time: Speed and accuracy of loan processing from application to disbursement.
