KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Make out voyage, load and discharge instructions to vessels and agents and follow up on same.
  • Secure appointment of agents and take care of all necessary pre-payments and negotiations regarding agency fee and other port expenses.
  • Communicate with and inform captains, owners, customers, brokers, agents and offices abroad regarding scheduled voyages as well as voyages being performed, and follow up on same.
  • Initiate operational intervention in voyage(s) to optimize performance and the voyage result in cooperation with the Chartering Desk.
  • Calculate/estimate the results of operational challenges during the progress of voyages (i.e. off-hire, short-loading, dead freight, etc.).
  • In coordination with the vessel's management /owners and agents, to make out necessary load and stow plans in order to optimize the voyage result.
  • Ensure vessels holds are clean and ready for loading on arrival load port in order to tender valid NOR timely and avoid any off-hire, hold failures, time lost.
  • Prepare invoices and secure punctual settlement of freight and T/C hire, in cooperation with the Accounting Department.
  • Initiate and execute bunker purchases required for the voyage with focus on P&L development.
  • Prepare financial speed calculations and control the vessels' performances together with input/up-date of shipping system.
  • Daily update of position books and voyage accounts in shipping system (IMOS).
  • On completion of voyage prepare laytime calculations, submitting same to charterers and reach an agreement before issuance of final freight statements
  • Ensure Bills of Lading comply with and do not deviate from the voyage Charter Party agreement and T/C contract. Ensure payment of freight is effected in accordance the Charter Party agreement and Bill of Lading terms.
  • Monitoring performance of vessel/s. By analyzing daily noon reports from vessels master and/or through weather routing reports. Issue and negotiate vessel underperformance claims.
  • Handling operational claims (vessel or cargo) in conjunction with H&M underwrites, insurers, PandI clubs and other relevant parties.

EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES

  • 4+ years dry cargo (freight) operations experience 
  • Experienced user of IMOS, DA Desk and other related software

  • Interest in legal aspects
