Shipping & Documentation Officer
About the job Shipping & Documentation Officer
The primary tasks and responsibilities would be the accurate and efficient shipment handling, and delivery of multiple commodities, mainly containerized raw cashew, cocoa, sesame seeds and other agri-commodities from Africa and the processing and management of shipping documents.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for sound execution of sale/purchase contracts
- Execute shipping instructions
- Clear communication with central Operations/Logistics Desk and support to all other stakeholders
- Contract execution (End to End) – International Trade & Shipping
- Liaise with inhouse warehousing team about the handling and allocation of inventory
- Instruct cargo surveyors.
- Placing bookings and arranging equipment from Liners/Agents
- Liaise with forwarders and shipping lines on shipping documents.
- Check and process full international shipping documents as per SI (Mainly Bls, packing list, all supporting documents)
- Draft corrections, customs declarations, export related matters, settling local charges and all other related tasks.
- Ensure effective communication with 3P FOB suppliers and service providers such as forwarders, surveyors and shipping lines
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & COMPENTENCIES
- Bachelor's degree in business, commerce, economics or any other field
- Preference for any experience in shipping of mainly containerized goods and handling relevant shipping documents in an international trade environment, preferably under agri commodities.
- Good knowledge of handling of Incoterms, shipping/trade documents, documentary collections and transport insurance.
- Preference for work experience in Africa & basic French language proficiency.
- Effective communicator and negotiator
- Team player with ability to lead teams
- Strong administrative and logistical skills
