Customer Service Independent Contractor (Remote – US Client)

We are seeking a highly motivated Customer Service Independent Contractor to support a fast-paced US-based client. This is a remote role based in South Africa, working aligned US hours.

Working Hours (South Africa Time)

7:00 PM – 3:00 AM (SAST)

Role Overview

You will be responsible for delivering high-quality customer support across email, phone, and chat channels. This role requires strong communication skills, a proactive mindset, and the ability to work independently in a remote environment.

You will act as the first point of contact for customers, ensuring all queries are handled efficiently, professionally, and with a strong customer-first approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Handle inbound customer queries via phone, email, and chat
  • Provide clear, professional, and timely responses
  • Troubleshoot and resolve customer issues or escalate when necessary
  • Maintain accurate records in CRM and support systems
  • Follow up on outstanding customer requests
  • Deliver a consistently high standard of customer experience
  • Work closely with internal teams to resolve complex issues

Requirements

  • Proven experience in customer service or call centre support
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfortable working night shifts (SA time aligned to US hours)
  • Highly tech-savvy and confident using digital tools and systems
  • Experience using CRM/helpdesk platforms (Zoho, Zendesk, Freshdesk, etc.) advantageous
  • Strong problem-solving and multitasking abilities
  • Ability to work independently as an independent contractor

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting US or international clients
  • Background in SaaS, property management, hospitality, or e-commerce support
  • Familiarity with remote communication tools (Slack, Zoom, Google Workspace
