About the Role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Senior QuickBooks Bookkeeper with a strong background in the legal industry to manage the financial operations of our firm. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of law firm accounting practices, trust accounting, and compliance requirements, combined with advanced proficiency in QuickBooks.

You will play a key role in ensuring financial accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all accounting functions, supporting leadership with timely and reliable financial insights.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and manage the firms general ledger using QuickBooks, ensuring accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.

  • Handle accounts payable and receivable, client billing, and reconciliation of all bank and trust accounts.

  • Prepare and manage trust account reconciliations in accordance with legal accounting rules and regulations.

  • Process client invoices, retainers, and settlements while ensuring accuracy and timely delivery.

  • Conduct monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings, generating balance sheets, income statements, and other financial reports.

  • Support management with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysis.

  • Ensure compliance with tax filings, audits, and financial reporting requirements.

  • Collaborate closely with attorneys and administrative staff to ensure financial records align with case activity and client accounts.

  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity of sensitive financial data.

  • Assist with process improvements and identify opportunities for greater efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Minimum 5+ years of bookkeeping/accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a legal firm environment.

  • Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks (Online and/or Desktop).

  • Strong understanding of trust accounting and legal compliance requirements.

  • Solid knowledge of GAAP and legal industry financial procedures.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other accounting tools/software.

  • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across departments.

  • Bookkeeping or Accounting qualification (Diploma or Degree preferred).

  • Experience working with attorneys or legal billing systems (e.g., Clio, TimeSolv, or similar) is highly advantageous.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience managing multi-entity accounting or handling trust accounts.

  • Knowledge of law firm billing practices and client retainer management.

  • Ability to interpret and apply ethical and compliance regulations in financial processes.

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
