They handle various treasury activities, including cash management, bank reconciliations, cash forecasting, debt management, and financial reporting. With a focus on maintaining liquidity, maximizing interest income, and minimizing borrowing costs, Treasury Accountants play a crucial role in supporting financial decision-making and maintaining the financial health of the organization. Job Description:
Cash Management: Monitor and manage cash flows, including cash receipts, disbursements, and banking transactions. Ensure proper cash positioning and liquidity management to meet operational needs while maximizing interest income and minimizing borrowing costs.
Bank Reconciliation: Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure accurate recording of cash transactions and reconcile any discrepancies. Monitor bank balances, resolve banking issues, and maintain effective relationships with financial institutions.
Cash Forecasting: Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts to project cash requirements and optimize cash management. Analyze cash flow trends, identify potential shortfalls or surpluses, and provide recommendations for cash planning and investment decisions.
Treasury Reporting: Prepare timely and accurate treasury reports, including cash flow statements, debt schedules, bank reconciliations, and other financial reports. Provide analysis and commentary on variances, trends, and key metrics to support decision-making.
Risk Management: Assist in identifying and mitigating financial risks related to treasury operations. Monitor interest rate risk, foreign exchange risk, and credit risk. Develop and implement risk management strategies and procedures.
Compliance and Regulations: Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations, accounting standards, and internal controls. Stay updated on changes in financial regulations and assess their impact on treasury operations. Assist in internal and external audits related to treasury activities.
Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as finance, accounting, and operations teams to gather information, coordinate treasury activities, and provide support. Communicate effectively with banks, financial institutions, and external parties regarding treasury-related matters.
Process Improvement: Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation within treasury operations. Streamline workflows, enhance controls, and implement best practices to optimize efficiency and effectiveness.
