Vehicle Technician - Motor Transport

 Job Description:

Purpose of the Role:
To carry out preventative, corrective, and breakdown maintenance on motor vehicle equipment and systems, individually or as part of a technical team, within a designated area of Dubai Airports, whilst minimizing disruption to airport operations.

  • Carry out all technical and safety instructions to conform to Dubai Airports policy and procedures.
  • Technically supervise and lead a team of motor vehicle helpers and tradesmen to ensure correct and safe completion of tasks within the designated area.

Qualifications:

  • High School Certificate.
  • Industrial Training Institute Certificate / Diploma (3-year duration) in Motor Vehicle Maintenance or equivalent (post high school).
  • IOSH Working Safely Certificate or equivalent.
  • Current valid UAE driving licence is essential.

Experience:

  • Minimum three (3) years of experience within a motor vehicle maintenance workshop or similar environment.

Skills:

  • Ability to communicate with staff, stakeholders, and customers in oral and written English.
  • Ability to construct technical reports, spreadsheets, and presentations using MS Office (Word / Excel).
  • Ability to perform safely and correctly the following on a range of motor vehicle equipment and pipework:

    • Planned preventative maintenance (PM) routines
    • Corrective maintenance (CM)
    • Manual drive
    • Automatic drive
    • Heavy Goods Vehicle (HGV)
    • Fire Trucks
    • Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWP)
    • Scissor/Boom lifts
    • Specialized airport equipment (e.g., Rubber removal)
  • Ability to conform to all general and technical safety requirements at all times to ensure the health, safety, and welfare of self and others at work.
  • Can read, interpret, and describe the functionality of vehicle electrical and engine systems from drawings, irrespective of manufacturer.
  • Can correctly set up and use test equipment and interpret the test results, including:

    • Digital Multimeter
    • In-situ diagnostic equipment
  • Ability to raise & complete PMS fault report sheets, daily utilization reports, and CMMS work orders.
  • Knowledge in the use and interpretation of Local and International Plumbing, Drainage, and Pipework Standards and Regulations.

  • Acts as a role model for tradesmen and helpers and leads the team by example with consistent attention to detail and quality, demonstrating a "get it right first time, every time" attitude to the job.
  • Any other work as assigned by the supervisor/duty manager.
