ELV TECHNICIAN
Job Description:
Job Summary:
The ELV Technician is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of ELV systems in a facilities management environment. These systems include CCTV, access control, intercom, public address, structured cabling, fire alarm, BMS, and other low-voltage systems essential for building operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance of ELV systems such as:
- CCTV surveillance systems
- Access control and biometric systems
- Fire alarm systems
- Public address and voice evacuation systems
- Intercom systems
- Structured cabling and data networks
- Building Management Systems (BMS)
- Respond to service requests and breakdowns promptly and effectively.
- Conduct routine inspections and testing of ELV systems to ensure proper functionality.
- Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and installation manuals.
- Document maintenance activities, fault logs, and materials used.
- Assist in the installation and commissioning of new systems as part of project handovers or upgrades.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and client-specific requirements.
- Coordinate with other technicians, engineers, and contractors as needed.
- Maintain tools, testing equipment, and spare parts inventory.
Qualifications:
- Should have at least 2 years Technical certificate/ diploma qualification in their respective skill e.g. ITI in India or equivalent.
- Minimum of 23 years of experience working as an ELV Technician in a facilities management environment.
- Proficient in troubleshooting and maintaining a variety of ELV systems.
- Hands-on experience with tools and testing devices specific to ELV equipment.
- Familiarity with relevant codes, standards, and safety practices (e.g., NFPA, SIRA, local civil defense).
- Basic computer literacy and experience with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) preferred.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of integration between ELV and MEP/BMS systems.
- Skilled in installation, maintenance & troubleshooting of ELV systems
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
- Good communication and reporting skills.
