Engineer - Scheduler

 Job Description:

Job Purpose:

The Engineer - Maintenance Scheduling is responsible for developing, managing, and optimizing maintenance schedules to ensure the efficient operation and reliability of equipment and assets. The role involves coordinating with maintenance teams, analyzing operational data, and implementing best practices to minimize downtime and enhance overall productivity.

Minimum Qualification:

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or a related Engineering field.
  • Certification in Maintenance Planning & Scheduling is an advantage.

Skills & Experience:

Experience:

  • Minimum 6 years of experience in Maintenance Planning or Scheduling.

Technical Knowledge:

  • MEP Systems: Understanding of HVAC, electrical systems, plumbing systems, and mechanical systems.
  • Power Generation & Distribution: Knowledge of power plants, transformers, circuit breakers, and power distribution grids.
  • CCTV & Security Access Control: Familiarity with camera systems, DVRs, access control panels, biometric systems, and security monitoring.
  • Public Addressing Systems: Understanding of PA systems, amplifiers, microphones, and their integration into larger communication networks.
  • Airfield Lighting & Civil Infrastructure: Knowledge of airfield lighting systems (e.g., runway lights, taxiway lights) and airfield construction and maintenance procedures.
  • Motor Transport Systems: Familiarity with fleet management, vehicle maintenance schedules, and tracking systems.

Preventive & Corrective Maintenance Scheduling:

  • Ability to plan and organize scheduled maintenance activities, minimizing downtime and ensuring asset longevity.
  • Asset Lifecycle Management: Understanding of the lifecycle of various assets, including installation, operation, maintenance, and decommissioning.
  • Resource Allocation: Ability to allocate labor, materials, and equipment efficiently.
  • Cost Management: Tracking and controlling maintenance costs while maximizing asset availability.
  • Risk Management: Identifying potential risks and mitigating them with appropriate maintenance strategies.

Software Proficiency:

  • Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS): Experience with CMMS like MAXIMO, tracking, and managing assets.
  • Microsoft Office Suite & Project Management Tools: Proficiency in Excel for data analysis and reporting, and tools like MS Project for scheduling.

Compliance & Regulatory Knowledge:

  • Industry Standards and Codes: Familiarity with national and international standards, including OSHA, NFPA, ISO, and local aviation safety regulations.
  • Environmental Regulations: Knowledge of environmental and safety standards applicable to equipment maintenance, especially in areas like airfield lighting and power generation.

Communication & Coordination:

  • Collaboration with engineering teams, contractors, vendors, and suppliers to ensure smooth execution of maintenance schedules.
  • Ability to prepare maintenance reports and provide insights to stakeholders, including senior management and safety teams.

Safety & Emergency Preparedness:

  • Knowledge of safety procedures specific to maintenance work in critical infrastructure (e.g., airfields, power stations).
  • Ability to develop contingency plans for equipment failures or emergency situations.

Soft Skills:

  • Communication & Collaboration: Ability to coordinate with teams, engineers, and stakeholders, and document schedules and reports clearly.
  • Problem-Solving & Decision-Making: Analytical skills to identify bottlenecks and troubleshoot critical asset failures.
  • Time Management & Prioritization: Handling multiple maintenance activities with varying priority levels while meeting deadlines.
  • Leadership & Teamwork: Leading cross-functional teams and mentoring junior engineers/technicians.
  • Adaptability & Continuous Learning: Staying updated with new technologies in maintenance and asset management.
  • Attention to Detail: Ensuring accurate data entry in CMMS and compliance with regulations.
