They maintain a strong reputation in the North Shore areaparticularly on high-net-worth residential and land-development projectsand pride themselves on delivering integrated surveying and engineering services within a collaborative, dog-friendly office environment.

Role Overview

We have been retained to identify a licensed Professional Engineer to lead Cook County land-development assignmentsfrom initial client contact through construction observationwith an emphasis on projects governed by Metropolitan Water Reclamation District permitting requirements. You will coordinate design, permitting and field activities while managing stakeholder communications to ensure project success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead feasibility and drainage studies, grading, sanitary sewer, watermain and roadway design

  • Prepare construction documents, opinion of probable cost and village submittals

  • Draft and submit permit applications to IEPA, MWRD, IDOT, FEMA and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

  • Coordinate and schedule survey crews; conduct field observation and construction layout

  • Manage multiple concurrent projects, ensuring adherence to client specifications, schedule and budget

  • Maintain clear, professional verbal and technical written communications with clients, agencies and team members

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering 

    Illinois Professional Engineer (PE) license or EIT certification (PE strongly preferred)
  • 3 - 5 years of land-development experience in Cook County (Cook County/MWRD exposure highly desirable)
  • Proficiency in MicroStation and Geopak/Open Roads (required); familiarity with AutoCAD Civil 3D a plus

  • Demonstrated expertise in stormwater management reports, hydrologic & hydraulic modeling and sewer calculations

  • Proven track record securing permits from IEPA, MWRD, IDOT, FEMA and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers

  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to balance competing priorities

  • Strong verbal and written communication abilities

  • Residency in Illinois with reliable commute to Northbrook

Preferred Credentials & Experience

  • Certified Floodplain Manager (CFM) certification

  • Working knowledge of TR-20 and EPA-SWMM modeling tools

  • Background in compensatory storage design, detention basins and restrictor sizing
  • Experience with high-net-worth residential, municipal or non-profit projects

  • Project management skillsincluding scheduling, budgeting and client relations
