Were searching for an accomplished Traffic Engineering Section Lead to drive and expand our clients traffic-engineering practice throughout South Carolina. Youll combine technical excellence with strategic business developmentguiding complex traffic projects, mentoring a growing team, and strengthening relationships with SCDOT and other key stakeholders.

What Youll Do

  • Practice Leadership & Growth

    • Shape the traffic groups strategic plan, identify market opportunities, and lead proposal efforts.

  • Project & Technical Management

    • Oversee traffic studies, signal design, signing & pavement-marking plans, maintenance-of-traffic schemes, crash analyses, roadway lighting, and related deliverables.

    • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, consultants, contractors, and public agencies.

  • People & Operations

    • Forecast resource needs, hire and onboard staff, perform performance reviews, and champion professional development.

    • Manage regional budgets, schedules, and QA/QC processes to ensure profitable, on-time delivery.


Must-Have Qualifications

  • 10 + years of traffic-engineering design, planning, and analysis experience.

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering (ABET-accredited).

  • South Carolina Professional Engineer (PE) registration.

  • In-depth knowledge of SCDOT policies, publications, and practices; proven experience delivering SCDOT projects.
  • Proficiency with at least one traffic analysis/simulation tool (e.g., Synchro, VISSIM, HCS, SIDRA).
  • Strong client-facing communication skillswritten, verbal, and presentation.

  • Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple projects in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.


Nice to Have

  • PTOE (Professional Traffic Operations Engineer) certification.

  • Existing network of South Carolina public-sector or municipal clients.
