Principal Primary Electrical Engineer

Our client is a dynamic engineering consultancy delivering comprehensive solutions for integrating energy assets into the grid. They specialise in designing, building, commissioning, and operating renewable energy and HV substation projects.

Role Overview:
We are seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to provide technical leadership across all phases of energy projects, from concept and detailed design to commissioning and operations. The role offers exposure to utility-scale solar, wind, BESS, and HV substation projects, collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders including clients, TNSPs, and AEMO.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead electrical design for HV substations and renewable energy projects
• Provide technical guidance and review for specifications, reports, and designs
• Support commissioning and compliance activities across projects
• Collaborate with grid connection and advisory teams to ensure seamless project delivery
• Mentor and support junior engineers

Requirements:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering
• Minimum 15 years experience in HV substations and renewable energy design
• Minimum 2 years of experience in Australian projects with full working rights
• Strong knowledge of transmission, protection, and control systems
• Familiarity with grid connection processes and Australian standards (EA, RPEV/RPEQ desirable)
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills
