  • Estimate Pay: $46.99 $51.92/hour.
  • Paid Time Off per Year: Up to 80-hours per year, occurring on day one.
  • Sick Leave per Year: Up to 56-hours per year, occurring on day one.
  • Paid Federal Holidays: Eleven (11) Paid Federal Holidays

Working Hours:

Work hours will normally be between 6:00 a.m.-2:30 p.m. with an unpaid 30-minute lunch each day, Monday through Friday, excluding federal holidays and will not exceed five (5) days a week, forty (40) hours per week.

Qualifications

  • Fully licensed to perform radiological procedures by the American Registry of Radiology Technologist or equivalent.
  • Certified as a Radiology Technologist by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and/or Certified Radiologic Technologist (CRT).
  • Licensed as a Radiology Technologist by the State of California.
  • Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation certified, in accordance with the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
  • Three (3) Letters of Reference

Attire

The contractor is expected to wear professional clothing while on duty (scrub uniforms are approved). The attire worn shall also be appropriate for the correctional environment in which the contract employee will be performing.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Assist the Physician, Physician Assistant, and/or Nurse with patient flow in a clinic setting by measuring the patient's vital signs, height, weight and other data.
  • Organize, schedule, and perform laboratory studies as ordered. Collect clinical laboratory specimens for testing as requested. Collection of specimens may be accomplished via routine venipuncture and capillary procedures. Specimens may include but are not limited to: blood, urine, stool, sputum, DNA, and other specimens/ samples as needed or ordered. Handle and dispose of biomedical waste in accordance with State Law and Local Procedures.
  • Process, prepare and pack specimens for transport. Processing will include, but not limited to: specimen centrifugation, aliquoting and mixing. Ensure specimens are properly transported according to receiving labs' specifications. Update lab requests that are completed. Verify lab requests results are received from the receiving lab. Scan and upload lab requests or results to Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR) system to notify ordering provider of results. Audit, review and update completed lab requests from pending queue and mark results as received. Schedule and follow up appropriately if specimens are not completed or results indicate repeat collection are needed.
  • Acquire and maintain working knowledge of the Health Services Unit, including national and local policy, and approved procedures necessary to accomplish the mission described herein, ensuring that the Laboratory Procedure Manual is referenced and updated accordingly.
  • Assist the Health Service Administrator (HSA) and/or his/her designee in the coordination of BOP and Contract Reference Lab contact, CLIA re-certification, and maintenance of equipment. Independently and/or assist other Health Services staff in the entry of laboratory information into electronic systems, prepare and complete laboratory related paperwork, inventory, store and maintain appropriate and current laboratory supplies, to include an accurate inventory of all needles, syringes, and other items used to replace stock inventory.
  • Assist the HSA and Clinical Director with other technical or clerical duties, not explicitly defined, as necessary to address the needs identified within the institution. Participate and provide suggestions for writing and implementation of local policies that pertain to the institution laboratory program.
