Clearance Requirements: National Crime Information Center (NCIC) Check with Inquiries, along with Fingerprints and Drug Screening (urinalysis).

Type of Employment: Full-Time, 40 hours per week.

Estimate Pay: $20.57/hour.

Benefits: Health/Dental and Vision

Paid Time Off per Year: 80-hours per year, occurring on day of hire.

Sick Leave per Year: 56-hours per year, occurring on day of hire.

Paid Federal Holidays: Eleven (11) Paid Federal Holidays

Schedule

The Medical Assistant will normally work from Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m., excluding Federal holidays. There is a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. The work schedule is five (5) days a week, eight (8) hours a days.

Summary of Duties

The Medical Assistant will provide nursing care to include, taking and recording patient history, vital signs, making appointments, assisting mid-level providers, nurses, and physicians in clinical activities.

Qualifications

  • Must be a U. S. Citizen.
  • A graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program.
  • Must have two (2) years of documented experience in a Medical Office as an Assistant/Medical Assistant.
  • Front and back-office skills are required.
  • Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification either by the American Red Cross or the American Hospital Association.

**Copies of your diploma from your Medical Assistant program must be included in your application along with your CPR certification.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Draws blood from patients for analysis or other medical purposes.
  • Collects and process urinalysis specimens.
  • Operates EKG machine and other special medical apparatus/equipment within the Health Services Unit.
  • Assists healthcare providers and visiting clinical specialty consultants in the management and coordination of patient flow through the chronic care clinic, optometry and general clinics when scheduled.
  • Assists primary providers when necessary.
  • Performs general nursing duties.
  • Receive inmate passes, pull, file, and copy medical records and maintain supplies in all exam rooms.
  • Performs screening vision examinations and assists physicians, nurses and mid-level practitioners with minor surgical cases.
  • Maintain daily sick call list.
  • Performs general office duties, such as stocking/pulling office and medical supplies, making copies, filing, faxing, answering telephones, etc.
