- Type of Employment: Full-Time, 40 hours per week.
- Period of Performance: Estimated start date: 01 May 2026 – 30 April 2031.
- Estimate Pay: $34.03 – $36.00 per hour based on experience.
- Paid Time Off per Year: Up to 80 hours per year, occurring on day one.
- Sick Leave per Year: Up to 56 hours per year, occurring on day one.
- Paid Federal Holidays: Eleven (11) Paid Federal Holidays
Working Hours
The Radiology Technician will normally work Monday through Thursday, 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. The Ultrasound Technician will not work more than 40 hours a week.
Summary of Duties
The Radiology Technician will provide professional ultrasound services, including diagnostic and therapeutic ultrasonic procedures, to Adults in Custody (AIC) referred to by the Health Services Department at Federal Correctional Complex-Pollock. Services rendered should be professional in nature and consistent with community standards of care.
Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Radiology Technology from a Joint Review Committee on Education in Radiologic Technology (JRCERT) program.
- Registered Radiology Technologist (RRT) by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography.
- Radiology Technologist License from the State of Louisiana.
- A minimum of one (2) year of experience.
- Must be Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certified either by the American Red Cross (ARC)or the American Heart Association (AHA).
- Bilingual oral communication skills and experience in a clinical correctional setting are desirable but not required.

Attire
The Radiology Technician must dress appropriately for the work environment. This includes business attire or scrubs (black and blue scrub uniforms are approved). The attire worn shall also be appropriate for the correctional environment in which the contract employee will be performing. Jeans (of any color), T-shirts, sandals (of any type), tank tops, and sweatpants/shirts
are not considered appropriate professional attire. Federal Correctional Complex-Pollock will not be responsible for providing a uniform allowance.
Duties and Responsibilities
Perform routine radiologic procedures ordered by the medical staff for the AIC population at the institution.
- Transmit, retrieve X-ray images and reports electronically, and scan reports into AICs' Bureau Electronic Medical Record (BEMR).
- Receive training to retrieve radiographic consults from BEMR and schedule them to perform all radiographic procedures.
- Work with an AIC population from a variety of cultural, racial, religious, and ethnic backgrounds.
- Evaluate radiographic equipment for calibrations and repairs.
- Possess knowledge of basic emergency situations that may occur during special radiographic procedures.
- Schedule exams and maintain records.
- Possess knowledge of various pathological abnormalities as demonstrated by radiographic imaging.
- Independently assess and select technical exposure factors and positions necessary to obtain a proper quality diagnostic exam. Receive patients and explain procedures to alleviate undue anxiety.
- Independently perform all radiographic procedures, i.e., chest, bone, skull, spine, and portable x-rays, etc.
- Notify the radiologist or referring Physician of any preliminary abnormalities seen while the patient is undergoing an exam, so that additional views or exams can be ordered if needed.
- Coordinate transfer of patient radiologic records to ensure continuity of care.
- Work with the Clinical Director to ensure monitoring and evaluation activities are completed.
- Act as liaison between radiologist and medical staff.
- Receive training and orientation and comply with correctional techniques as they pertain to medical services.
- Develop a working knowledge of the local medical protocols.
- Wear outer protective clothing and obey the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's universal precautions at all times.
- Function in other duties commensurate with a Radiology Technologist.
- Computerization and printing of the daily log.
- Computerization and printing of exam requisitions
- Printing of all folders and exam labels
- Completing all X-ray studies ordered by the medical staff
- Preparing X-rays for shipment to the radiologist for interpretation
- Transport of X-rays to the radiologist for interpretation
- Transport all x-rays from the radiologist after interpretation
- Assisting the staff with maintenance of equipment and supplies, and notifying staff when supplies are needed
- Conducting quality assurance tests and daily maintenance on X-ray equipment as needed
- Assisting with FDA inspections and preparation for TJC and program review as needed
- Assuring that all X-ray requests are completed properly
- Computerization of patient logs and repeat analysis
