- Estimate Pay: $30.08 - $35.17/hour
- Type of Employment: 40 hours per week.
- Period of Performance: 25 September 2025 24 October 2029

- Paid Time Off per Year: Up to 80 hours per year, occurring on day one.

Working Hours
Work will be scheduled generally from 08:00 a.m. to 1630 p.m., Monday through Friday. However, there may be times when employees must work outside of duty hours and/or on weekends to support specific tasks. Although the schedule may have to be flexible, it will not exceed 40 hours per week.
Summary:
The Parenting Specialist serves as a key member of the Family Advocacy Program team at Fort Bragg, delivering evidence-based parenting education, support, and intervention services to military families. This role promotes healthy family functioning, enhances parenting capacity, and contributes to mission readiness by reducing risk factors associated with child maltreatment and family violence.
Mandatory Qualifications
- Bachelors degree in social work, Psychology, Public Health, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum 2 years of experience in family and children services, family violence and parenting education, child development, or family support services.
- Have a bachelor's degree in any field.
- Working knowledge of basic photography and operation of Nikon 5000 and Canon EOS Digital Rebel XTi cameras, or similar technology
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Outlook).
- Demonstrate Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat.
- Possess basic communication skills suitable for a professional environment.
- Be able to speak, write, and understand the English language fluently.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Assist with data analysis/processing pertaining to child abuse, Problematic Sexual Behavior in Children and Youth (PSB-CY), and family violence.
- Assist in prevention research for appropriate evidence-based programs pertaining to family violence and training for professional staff.
- Support surrounding Army communities with parenting skills, education, training, and child development information.
- Assist with Counselling, Assessment, Referral, Advice, and Throughcare (CARAT) and general family violence education geared towards teaching classes to educators, professionals, and parents.
- Conduct needs assessments and develop tailored parenting plans for families at various stages, including expectant parents, new parents, and those navigating behavioral or developmental challenges.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including behavioral health, medical providers, chaplains, and Child & Youth Services, to ensure coordinated care and referrals.
- Support the New Parent Support Program (NPSP) through home visits, developmental screenings, and early intervention strategies.
- Facilitate outreach and awareness campaigns to promote positive parenting practices and reduce stigma around seeking support.
- Participate in case staffing, prevention planning, and community education initiatives related to child abuse prevention and family wellness.
- Be able to lift boxes and materials of up to 75 pounds regularly.
