Fig Tree Recruitment (“we”, “our”, “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy and handling personal information responsibly and transparently, in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
1. What We Collect
We only collect personal information that’s necessary for our recruitment and staffing services. This may include:
- Workseekers – contact details, CVs, work history, references, skills, onboarding information, and results of background checks.
- Clients – business contact information, role requirements, feedback, and communication preferences.
- Referees – your relationship to the candidate, opinions about their work, and your contact details.
2. How We Collect It
Information is collected directly from you (e.g. via forms, email, or interviews) or from publicly available sources, referees, and clients when relevant.
We may also collect data via Manatal (our applicant tracking system) or related platforms such as FoundU, MYOB, and Google Workspace.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use personal information to:
- Process job applications and match candidates with roles;
- Manage client relationships and placements;
- Meet legal and compliance obligations;
- Conduct reference and background checks;
- Communicate job updates, training, or service information.
We may also use contact details for direct marketing of recruitment services, but you can opt out anytime via email or text.
4. How We Store and Protect It
Your information is stored securely within our information systems and Manatal’s encrypted cloud environment.
We apply strict security controls, including:
- Password protection and multi-factor authentication;
- Staff privacy training;
- Controlled access (“need-to-know” basis);
- Secure disposal of data when no longer required.
Some data may be stored overseas (e.g. in Singapore or Thailand via Manatal servers). We take reasonable steps to ensure overseas providers maintain equivalent privacy safeguards.
5. Disclosure of Information
We may share personal information with:
- Clients and referees (for employment matching);
- Background screening providers and insurers;
- IT, payroll, and professional service providers.
We do not sell personal data. Disclosures are only made for legitimate business purposes or as required by law.
6. Access and Correction
You can request access to or correction of your personal information by contacting us.
We may verify your identity and charge a reasonable fee for processing extensive requests.

7. Data Breaches
In the event of a data breach, we follow the OAIC’s four-step response plan — contain, assess, notify (if required), and review.
8. Complaints
If you believe your privacy has been breached:

We may update this policy to reflect legal or operational changes. Any updates will appear on this page with a new “Last Updated” date.
