About the job Shift Engineer

In accordance with the policies, procedure and standards of Chroma Hospitality, Inc. and Crimson Resort & Spa, Mactan, under the direct supervision of the Repair and Maintenance Manager, the Shift Engineer is responsible for effective operations and maintenance of the physical plant, Kitchen and Laundry equipment, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation system of the resort as well as its building decoration.

Daily Job Duties

1. Routine inspection in all machineries and equipment and conditions at the following:

  • Generators (check coolant, battery, oil level, water level)

2. Fire pumps

  • Substations 
  • Booster Pumps and Pool Pumping Systems 
  • Desalination Plant Operation 
  • Sewage Treatment Plant 
  • Sump pits (all designated areas) 
  • Air handling units 
  • Chillers/Freezers 
  • Potable water tank level 
  • Boilers and Laundry Equipment 
  • Spa Equipment and Facilities

3. Conduct daily briefing to technicians. -

4. Attend to calls from telephone operator, back of the house and restaurants / outlets. 

5. Assign task to designated or respective technicians including functionality checking, building repair, AV Tech, in the absence of their respective section heads. 

6. Monitor RQM for guests complaints quick action and response. 

7. Check all work orders before assigning to respective technician. -

8. Ensure that all work orders assign will done or else not done will have proper turn over to the next shift engineer. 

9. All reports from respective technicians will be reported to logbook of Shift Engineer Report. 

10. Ensure proper turnover of previous shift and incoming shift. 

11. Ensure compliance of subordinates to established safety procedures including but not limited to the use of proper personal protective equipment (PPE). 

12. Practices and role-models the Guiding Principles and the Core Values of Crimson Resort & Spa Mactan. 

13. Be environmental friendly, reduce waste, recycle when possible, and reuse whenever applicable.

Energy & Utility Management

  1. Ensures sufficient generation of energy and utility, power, water, steam, air-con, etc. (i.e. shut-off any equipment / system in excess of actual requirement of the hotel. 
  2. Monitors the only utilities consumption, and takes proper corrective action as to any abnormal variances 
  3. Constantly monitors the actual level of externally-sourced utilities i.e. LPG and diesel, ensure sufficient availability and prompt ordering. 

Repair & Maintenance

  1. Receives repair works in his shift to be done by Work Order form or by telephone call and rectifies as soon as possible. If the job cannot be done or finished within his time scheduled, Work Order must be transferred to the next shift for completion of rectification. Heavy works must be transferred to Repair and Maintenance group through Work Order.

Safety

  1. Conducts periodic tests and inspection of safety equipment and alarm system with the Assistant Chief Engineer 
  2. Responds to emergency call and leads emergency brigade to contain situation.

Administration

  1. Plans, organizes, directs, controls and supervises the works if his subordinates in his shift, ensuring that they are carrying out the basic functions of their positions. 
  2. Reports to the Assistant Chief Engineer any unusual occurrences with respect to equipment and personnel. 
  3. Performs other duties that may be assigned by the Assistant Chief Engineer.

QUALIFICATION

  • Bachelors degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Licensed Mechanical or Electrical Engineer (R.M.E. or R.E.E.)
  • At least 3 years of experience in the operations and maintenance of power or industrial plants
  • Prior experience in a supervisory or team lead role is an advantage
  • Experience working in a hotel or hospitality environment is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Good communication and leadership abilities
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment
  • Willing to be assigned in Mactan and work on shifting schedules
