Sr. Trading Specialist
About the job Sr. Trading Specialist
To facilitate the day-to-day trading operations of FDCUI power plant portfolio which includes, but not limited to: (a) assessment of WESM data, (b) optimize plant scheduling, (c) bilateral contract management, (d) monitoring and compliance to the WESM rules, (e) coordination with plant operators, system operators, market operators and customers with regards to trading and dispatch, (f) formulation of bidding and dispatching strategies for each type of power plant
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordination with customers regarding Bilateral Contract Quantities (BCQ) declarations and other concerns related to contracted quantities.
- Coordination with System Operator, Market Operator and plant operation personnel on day-to-day operations
- Formulate generator bids and offers that optimizes profit and balances plant efficiency/reliability
- Preparation and submission of accurate BCQs to the WESM/IMEM
- Optimization of Bilateral Contract Quantities
- Regularly update the Trading Database (e.g., market prices, demand, etc.)
- Ensure every market transaction made complies to the WESM rules
- Submission of reportorial requirements pertaining to WESM Compliance
- Submission of daily and weekly reports on trading operations and electricity market status.
- Effective and efficient scheduling of trader shifts
- Continuous improvement of internal business processes
- Electricity price simulation and forecasting
- Provide accurate monthly, quarterly and annual reports to management
- Submit accurate and timely Customer Billing Determinants to the Billing Group.
Job Specifications:
- Degree in Engineering, Economics, Business courses, Mathematics and applied Sciences.
- At least 4 - 5 years relevant experience in the electric power industry and/or electricity trading. With preference to candidates with a working knowledge and understanding of WESM, EPIRA, Grid Code and RCOA
- Skills required :
- Strong analytical skills with high comprehension abilities
- Good communication and writing skills
- Proficient in MS Office Applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access)
- Knowledge in database programming and programming languages such as C++, VB.NET, Python, MATLAB and R is an advantage
